It was barely a year ago that I was feeling a little envious of places like California, Nevada, even areas of my own state, mainly Western Washington, where sales were hot and prices were escalating almost daily.
Visitors from those areas were telling me about the huge profits they were anticipating from the sale of their homes and laughing at the much lower prices of new homes in our area. Many of those visitors were planning to relocate here and pay cash for a new home from the proceeds of their high priced sales.
Its one year later and I am now thankful for our comparatively low rate of appreciation and lack of sub-prime buyers. Our area continues to sell homes at the same pace and prices we always have. Throw in the great weather, three rivers and a slower paced lifestyle and I feel doubly blessed.
I do miss those visitors with their wild tales and great expectations.
