Pit Crew Challege - May 2009

Another All-Star Race is just weeks away. Lowes Motor Speedway remains the host for the Race for A Million. The week is full of activities, at the Speedway and around the area, and the Pit Crew Challenge is always a big draw. With clients and friends on almost every team I can't choose favorites.....at least not out loud. If you have never been to a NASCAR race you should make a point to go to the All-Stars. Once you go....you will be hooked. I have been going to races for over 20 years and the thrill is awesome. From the stands, skyboxes to pit road, I have seen them all.

ELIGIBLE TEAMS

All teams qualified for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, which includes NASCAR Sprint Cup race winners form 2007 and 2008, past NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Winners of the past 10 years, and past NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions of the past 10 years who are active drivers and have competed in at least one Series event during the 2007 or 2008 season. Also, eligible is the 2008 NSPCC winner. If there are no new event winners, the remaining unfilled positions will become available to the car owners ranked highest in the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Owner point standings as of May 13, 2009, who are not otherwise eligible for this event.

Seven (7) members of each team are allowed to compete.

Format:

Teams are seeded for 2009 NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge based on the following:

  • Seeding will be determined by the 2008 NSCS car owner point standings (through Darlington).
  • The top eight (8) teams in NSCS Owner points will receive a bye into the Second Round of the competition.
  • The remaining eligible teams will be ranked in order of NSCS Owner points as Seeds No. 9-24 and will compete in a head-to-head format in the First Round of the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge.

The All-Star Race includes race-winning drivers from the previous and current Sprint Cup Series seasons, Cup Series champions from the past 10 years who are active drivers and have competed in at least one series event during the previous or current season, and past winners of the All-Star Race.

Additionally, two drivers will qualify for the premier event by finishing first and second, respectively, after two 20-lap segments in the Sprint Showdown (formerly the Open). Finally, one driver will once again join the All-Star Race field by winning the Fan Vote

GOLF-QUAIL HOLLOW CHAMPIONSHIP-CHARLOTTE

CHARLOTTE GOLF COMES ALIVE.....THE QUAIL HOLLOW CHAMPTIONSHIP IS THIS MONTH (formerly, WACHOVIA CHAMPTIONSHIP)

Starting Monday April 27 - Sunday May 3, 2009

Tickets Now Available at SouthPark Mall

For 2009 Quail Hollow Championship

Charlotte, NC-In an effort to provide a convenient option for patrons to obtain tickets, the Quail Hollow Championship has added another outlet for area fans for the 2009 tournament.

Starting March 24, area fans can visit the Quail Hollow Championship kiosk at SouthPark Mall, and purchase tickets for the April 27-May 3 Quail Hollow Championship to be held at Quail Hollow Club. All ticket packages will be available.

"We felt this would be a great opportunity for those patrons either visiting the shopping area or for those who live nearby to conveniently go and purchase tickets. Plus, by doing this they will save $10 shipping and handling fees and be able to walk away with tickets in hand." said Kym Hougham, Executive Director of the Quail Hollow Championship. "It also is another way of reminding visitors to the SouthPark Mall that the tournament is just around the corner."

The Quail Hollow Championship kiosk at SouthPark Mall will be located at Center Court, near the escalators. Operation hours will be Monday-Friday 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. The kiosk will be operated by tournament volunteers.

Tickets start at $25 for the Practice Pack that consists of daily tickets for Monday's Pro-Am along with Tuesday's practice round and Wednesday's Pro-Am. Tickets for the first two rounds Thursday and Friday are $40 each and tickets for the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday are $50 each. Weekly books are also available for $140, which reflects a $65 savings. The cost of parking at authorized lots and shuttle service to and from Quail Hollow Club are included in the ticket price as are all taxes.
