Do You Like To Go To The Zoo? Fort Worth Has One of the Best

I don't think it matters how old you are. We all have a little bit of kid in us and what better way to bring the kid out in us than a visit to a zoo!

The Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest in Texas. It was founded in 1909 and it has continuously improved to where it is one of the premier zoos in North America.

One of the best times we ever had there was going on Thanksgiving Day one year. It wasn't hot..it was perfect sweater weather and, best of all, no crowds! We practically had the animals and the zoo to ourselves.

This guy is always one of my favorites! He really acts up when he has an audience! And, he usually does! He was raised from a baby and when he was a "toddler" they kept him in a playpen and had a diaper on him! It was so cute!

If you like meerkats, they have a very large exhibit where you can see them in a natural habitat. I like how they stand and put their arms around each other. They seem friendly, but after what I saw on Meerkat Manor, I'm not so sure!

The Zoo makes it very easy for you to visit. It's open 365 days a year! Yes, even on Christmas! Going on Christmas day would be a good way to walk off all the Christmas dinner.

The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the most visited attractions in Fort Worth and once YOU visit, you'll know why!

Fishing the South Llano River

My husband and I took a much needed mini vacation to Junction, TX to canoe and fish the South Llano River. We had a blast! The little fish at the end of the video might be small, but the fight in this fish is incredible. They're a Guadalupe bass and they are scrappy...no bumping the bait, no nibbling...it's BAM!! Lots of fun! Junction is a small town west of San Antonio and Austin and I must say, they have the friendliest people of anywhere we've visited. EVERYONE has been very pleasant. That says a lot for this town. We have to go home tomorrow, but we're planning on coming back again one day soon! I hope you enjoy this little relaxing video. ****************************************************************** Linda Scanlan Your Fort Worth REALTOR 817.262.9194

Burleson, Texas Relay for Life Events

We've all had someone we love or know die from cancer. This is a disease that touches everyone and with you're support we can help defeat this ugly enemy.

Burleson, TX is hosting their Relay for Life event this Friday, April 26 at Kerr Middle School.

The event begins at 6:00p.m. and ends at 6:00a.m. on Saturday morning.

If you've ever participated in a Relay event you know how emotional it can be. You hear stories of loved ones who've gone on, but celebrate the victories and stories of the survivors who know that it's your contributions that have helped fund research to beat this thing.

Come on out on Friday night and be a part of this wonderful evening and help fight this ugly disease!

This post is dedicated to my very favorite neighbor and friend Nancy Lindsey who is losing her battle with this horrible disease. I love you Nancy!

Fort Worth's Main Street Arts Festival

It was an absolutely gorgeous day in Fort Worth today so we decided to go to the Main Street Arts Festival to mingle with the thousands of other people who also thought it was too pretty to stay inside.

The Arts Festival is an annual event that brings artists from all across the country to show their art pieces. There's everything from paintings and sculpture to pottery. There were several handmade leather shops (very pricey) and of course my favorite...jewelry! Couldn't get hubby to THATbooth! LOL

Western Swing trioIt's always so much fun to go because you see all kinds of entertainment. These guys were very good with a style called Western Swing. The guy with the beard could sure yodel!

Now this very colorfully dressed gentleman played an instrument called the African Harp and it sounded great! I thought I had videoed him but it didn't come out. My brilliant 21 year old son just had to ask..."did you turn record on?" Well, there's one in every crowd and family I guess. Of course I didn't turn record on! This instrument sounded amazing!

A very brave manI was really worried for this guy though...it was a very windy day and the kilt thing made me kind of nervous. I'm just not so sure if they wear anything under it or not!

This is a great event for families and the crowds are always so friendly and fun. I had a blast watching all the little kids dancing to the music. I think we need to learn to be more like little ones...the fun they were having was contagious!

Flowers Are Not Just for the Hill Country of Texas!

Texas wildflowers are not always bluebonnets, although this is what we wait all winter for!

Big Bend Ranch State Park offered up some gorgeous blooms when we were there. I had never been to the desert and was surprised at how beautiful it was! Wildflowers were blooming everywhere!

I don't think you can beat wildflowers in the Texas Hill Country. If you think Texas is just all dry, flat and desert then you're in for a big surprise! These pictures were taken on a trip to the town of Fredericksburg and the flowers will just knock your socks off! *************************************************************** Linda Scanlan Your Fort Worth Realtor 817.262.9194
