When you live in Hunters Ridge, you get a magnificent home on wooded acreage, with privacy plus room for entertaining.
Hunters Ridge was carefully developed in the late 1990's to give executive home owners lovely wooded homesites. Trees were preserved at all costs, and homes were placed to maximize beautiful vistas in all directions.
A small group of the area's best largest home builders gave the original owners a huge list of options and custom features to assure that no two homes would look alike.
Our friends and clients who live at Hunters Ridge brag about the strong sense of community and pride that folks feel when they get home from a day of work.
You may feel like you're far away from the hustle and bustle of life at Hunters Ridge, but shopping is just around the corner. A Harris Teter grocery store, CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks, Bloom, and neighborhood restaurants are just minutes from Hunters Ridge.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant is Amici's in the Harris Teter shopping center on Hoadly Road. The menu offers you Italian, American, and Greek food in a comfy atmosphere. If you live close to Hoadly Road give Amici's a try... you'll be a regular customer for life!

Prince William County Center is a new community featuring homes, townhomes, condos, retail, recreation, a new Ruby Tuesday restaurant, and land for the construction of a charming town center. A pool, tennis courts, and playgrounds are maintained for you by the home owners association. There are open fields in the heart of the neighborhood for impromptu football, softball, or soccer games.
County Center is at the heart of the newest phase of development, fronting on the Prince William Parkway, across the street from the County Government Center, with fast access to I-95, and express commuter busses to key in-town employment hubs.
The best way to describe all of the homes in County Center is "wide open spaces". The homes, townhomes, and condos feature large rooms, high ceilings, garages, expansive kitchens, and lots of windows.
The townhomes and condos present a pleasing street scape without the intrusion of massive garage doors because the garages are entered from allies behind the homes. Some floorplans tuck the garages in the lower level of the homes, while other floorplans give you a detached garage behind the home, with a private courtyard in between the walk-out entertainment room and the garage.
A Ruby Tuesday restaurant opens in February of 2008, offering a jazzy dining room and bar, plus a separate entrance for you to zip inside and grab a take-out order.
Next door to Ruby Tuesday is Wachovia Bank.
Two grocery stores are within two miles of County Center. Turn left on the Prince William Parkway for Harris Teter, or turn right for Safeway.
Our clents who live in County Center love the convenience of County Center.
Westridge is a premier community, with homes set among acres of lush forest in Woodbridge.
The Westridge Pool and Clubhouse is integrated into a serene lake in the middle of Westridge. The lake and the pool area seem to merge like a diamond in a piece of exquisite jewelry.
Family pool.
There are TWO pools at the Clubhouse, separated by a grove of mature trees. There is a family pool where children and adults can swim, and there is the "Adult Only" pool for persons 21 and older where adults can enjoy some peace and quiet.
Adult pool overlooking lake.
The clubhouse offers Westridge home owners a gracious, open party room with soaring ceilings, and tasteful decor.
When my family and I lived in Westridge, 1997-2005, we made the party room available to our daughter's horse riding team at Carter Oak Show Stables for their team and family Christmas parties.
In the summer, we hosted our annual Client Appreciation Party at the clubhouse. The Adult Pool was closed to the public and made available for exclusive use by our guests. The buffet tables of food were spread across the party room, the coolers full of ice, soda, and beer was on the back deck, next to the broad sweeping stairs that lead to the pool area.
Any Westridge home owner may sponsor an event at the clubhouse.
Top-quality craftsmen and skilled tradesmen are now available to you for your home improvement projects.
Three years ago you couldn't even get a return phone call from a quality contractor because the new home builders had every contractor in Prince William County working on new homes.
Today, you can get quality work, from respected contractors, at prices you can afford.
Now is an ideal time to finish basements, update kitchens and baths, build additions to your house, paint, or add fancy trim.
One of the common fears I hear from folks who want to hire a contractor is, "I'm afraid some con artist will run away with my money, and leave the job unfinished."
It happens.
Not much.
But it happens.
You can find reliable contractors with stellar reputations through a variety of sources.
The best source is a recommendation from someone you know, love and trust. You can see that their recommended contractor did for their home.
Another excellent source is the Chamber of Commerce. I am familiar with contractors who are Chamber members, and there isn't a bad apple in that barrell. I would hire any of them for my own home right now.
Another source is high-end custom home builders who are established, and well known. So far, I have avoided naming any specific companies in this post, but I have the confidence in Mike Garcia and Mike Garcia Construction to give him a plug.
Mike Garcia built my home. He has a new homes division, a commercial office construction division, and a home improvement division.
Patty and I expect to add a detached garage and workshop when I inherit my Dad's 1952 MG, so we will have a place to store that exquisite classic car, and a stocked workshop I can use to keep the MG in top condition. Mike Garcia's craftsmen are the only men I trust to build a well-designed home for my Dad's family heirloom.
Last, be prepared to pay for quality work. You will absolutely NEVER get first-class work for a "coach" fare. Trust me... I have learned from past experience. Like the time I hired a guy to repair some exterior trim, and he got busted by the police in a sting operation on a crack-house, and went to prison for 3 years....
Quality work may not be CHEAP but it will give you the best bang for your buck and the best value for your hard-earned dollars.
The Prince William County (PWC) Board of Supervisors (BOS) asked the PWC Future Commission to fan out across the County, interview residents about their hopes and dreams for the future, and compile a report titled Prince William County 2030.
Residents were specifically asked to describe their most exquisite, wildest dreams for the quality of life in PWC in the year 2030.
Dave Spivey presented an overview of the report to members of the Chamber of Commerce. I was spellbound as Dave Spivey enthusiastically shared a compelling vision of the future, as described by ordinary folks like you and me.
The first section of the report shares real stories about real people who describe why they moved to PWC, and why they plan to stay in PWC.
The second section is an eye-opening firsthand narrative from the viewpoint of a citizen in the year 2030. You may download a copy of the report in pdf HERE.
Once again, I am excited to praise County Executive Craig Gerhart for his exceptional leadership.
I've know Craig since we were next door neighbors on Leewood Court in Lake Ridge starting in 1995.
He's an enthusiastic leader, with a can-do spirit, who has attracted some of the brightest people in Public Administration to his staff.
