Only 100 volts at the entertainment center and almost total earth to ground resistance failure. During an inspection this past week on a very large custom built in Utah we discovered during electrical testing that several electrical outlets were only delivering 100 volts when placed under a 15 amp load. In fact 80% of the outlets failed the NEC guidelines of 108 volt minimum. Under no circumstances would I plug in and power on any electrical equipment, especially expensive flat panel televisions and any solid state devices with printed circuit boards. Without any load on the system, the voltage was a passing 121 volts.
Photo shows electrical analyzer result with a 15 amp stress load applied - A 15.8% load drop - results in only 100 volts at the outlets for the entertainment center. Any LED, LCD or Plasma unit would fail within 6 months.
Even worse than the excessively high line load drop was the almost non-existent earth to ground resistance. Today's new home have plastic PEX and CPVC plumbing which cannot be grounded with a clamp and ground wire. The home is depending on the grounding at the panel to the earth ground. This same custom home failed the earth to ground test with overall earth to ground resistance exceeding 125 ohms. If anything failed in regards to the ground wiring at the service entrance serious injury or even death could occur. Just because it is a NEW home with the "most modern" technology doesn't make it fail safe. This is just one more reason to demand a full electrical analyzation during your home inspection.
I predict Jon Huntsman will resign from the China job early, and throw a challenge to his old boss. Many GOP will throw their hat in, but the GOP nominee will be from an conservative state, be a gov or ex gov, have money and must know how to negotiate with China - that leads to Huntsman.
There are 55 million republicans in the US, if we donate $18.20 we can amass a billion dollars and that is what Obama will amass to be relected.
