Trick or Treat? Halloween 2009 From That Chilliwack Girl!

My first Halloween without my kids. This year has been a year of many firsts. The jury is still out on whether or not I'm finding that a good thing. I made no 'Bat and Ghoul' Cookies

bat-cookies1I had 2 pumpkins but they weren't carved...........I wore no costumes and had no scary music playing in the background. :-(

I kept reminiscing about the days of old:

(Chris is the cowboy on the left, Sarah the bunny - and Rachel is Barnie.........top right is my three once a ponca time!.......bottom middle is Sarah in her 'fifties' outfit...last Halloween - and My niece and nephew Carmen and Adam!)

I knew I'd my kids wouldn't be bringing any candy home for me to scrounge some.......so I bought some chocolate Halloween cupcakes with lots of goo on them, and ate 3 of them! (and I don't do that!) ............3!

But the real sweet part was watching the little trick or treat-or's coming to my door - definitely too cool for school!

NEXT year I'm definitely dressing up in character! ;-0

Top 10 + 1 Horror Movies Perfect for Halloween

Top 10 Horror Movies Perfect for Halloween

Halloween is here and along with candy, trick-or-treating, and costumes, horror movies seem to make the celebration complete for some. It's never been my thing but from the frightening to the macabre there might be no other time of year where horror movies shine as they do on All Hallows Eve.

With their suspense, thrills, and outright terror, Halloween horror movies are selected based upon the suspense they create and the fear they instill, often long after the movie has finished playing. Here are the top ten horror movies perfect for Halloween.

1. Psycho

Psycho was released on January 1, 1960 and has been terrifying movie watchers ever since. Starring Anthony Perkins as the deranged, Norman Bates and Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, the story follows Norman Bates as he is the caretaker for the Bates motel. A search ensues when Marion Crane disappears.

2. The Exorcist

Released in 1973, the film was re-released on September 22, 2000. Starring Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil andMax von Sydow as Father Merrin, the plot focused on the story of 12 year old Regan, played by Linda Blair, who became demon possessed after playing with Ouija boards. Can Regan be freed?

3. Silence of the Lambs

Released on February 13, 1991, Silence of the Lambs stars Jodie Foster as the FBI agent Clarice Starling and Anthony Hopkins as the criminally insane psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Agent Clarice Starling enlists the services of Dr. Lecter in order to track down a murderer. Will Dr. Lecter help Clarice catch the killer?

4. Halloween

The original Halloween film was released on October 25, 1978 and has become a staple of creep-show movie goers ever since. Starring Donald Pleasence as Dr. Sam Loomis and Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie, the movie introduced the world to one of the scariest psychopaths on film: Michael Myers. Young Michael was played by Will Sandin and older Michael was played by Nick Castle. Tony Moran is credited as playing Michael Myers at the age of 23. He, reprieved his role as the 23 year old Michael Myers in Halloween II. The role of Michael Meyers didn't end with Sandin, Castle, and Moran, however. Michael Myers has been played by six other actors. Nick Castle is seen in the film credits as the Shape.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street

Introducing pop culture to Freddy Krueger, A Nightmare on Elm Street was released on November 16, 1984. The film was directed and written by Wes Craven and also introduced the world to future heart-throb Johnny Depp. Robert Englund starred as Freddy Krueger, the evil ghost of a child predator/murderer who continues to hunt children and teenagers in their dreams. The movie went on to become a franchise with currently 7 movies in the series. There is an additional movie of Freddy vs. Jason (from Friday the 13th).

6. Misery

Misery was unleashed on November 30, 1990 introducing Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes, the insane fan who was obsessed with the character ‘Misery' in romance novelist Paul Sheldon's series, played by James Caan. Sheldon had the misfortune of becoming disabled in a car accident and then being rescued by Annie.

7. The Shining

What could be more appealing on Halloween than Jack Nicholson possessed by an evil spirit while he is locked in the Overlook Hotel with his wife and son?

8. Friday the 13th

Released on May 9, 1980, the world would soon be introduced to Jason and pop culture would never be the same. Kevin Bacon plays a role in this film, but the film's greatest star is Jason, the crazed psychotic murderer behind the hockey mask. The original role of Jason was played by Ari Lehman, who reprieved the character in Friday the 13th the Final Chapter, released in 1984.

9. Jaws

When a New England resort town is terrorized by a great white shark, the greatest challenge isn't killing the shark, it's finding someone who believes you. Released on June 1, 1975 this Spielberg flick kept swimmers out of the water worldwide.

10. The Birds

Who knew that birds could be so violent? Released on January 1, 1963, a flock of birds begins to attack a community. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the Birds stars Rodney Turt Taylor as Mitch Brenner and Tippi Hedren as Melanie Daniels. Tippi liked her role so much she named her daughter after her character: Melanie Griffith.

11. O.k. and by popular request I'm adding the Realtor's personal favorite Horror Flick - The Money Pit! lol

So after you've finished Trick or Treating - nestle down with some popcorn and your candy stash and catch one or two of these!

Cultus Lake - Recreational & Waterfront Property Haven!

Cultus Lake is one of my favorite places - 10 minutes from Chilliwack - its an easy mini-get-a-way. Even better - it's one of the few place left anywhere in the lower mainland or valley surrounding Vancouver - with affordable waterfront!

Everything from cottage style, to villa's there's something sure to have you fall in love. Hiking, fishing, waterskiing, kyaking, you name it - its all here!

Autumn at Cultus Lake...

Live and play at Cultus Lake Park and enjoy the many benefits of a close-knit community of friends and neighbors. Or you might choose to Invest! Many people purchase property here and rent it out from October to June and then enjoy it themselves during the summer. Others rent seasonally - 9 months to one tenant and then week to week anywhere from $500-$2000/week in the summer! Now that's not a bad Return on Your Investment!

Gorgeous peaceful walks, trails galore, lots of recreational activities including the 18 Hole Cultus Lake Golf Course...and exciting Cultus Lake Water Park...........all of this surrounding by the majestic Coast Mountains!

Cultus Lake, B.C. - Investing in An Autumn Walk on the Beach!

I love Cultus lake in the summer - but so do a lot of other people! There's something cool about walking on the beach in the Fall though........Choppy waves.....crisp, cool breeze...and autumn leaves competing for beach space with the sand.

The wharves sway desolate enjoying the rhythm of the waves...

Sailboats whisper 'finally its just you and me'....!

There's no one out there...

But me

A little red Rowboat...
