Not long ago I did a post about Mall Watching...Views from a Chilliwack Real Estate Kiosk - the Rythmn of a Mall - Well yesterday we had Landmark Realty's Kiosk Grand Opening Celebration ~ and other then the rain storm, lightening and thunder - it was a success!
We set up a big tent in the parking lot of the Mall - invited all our customers/clients and friends - and served hot dogs and pop in exchange for donations to the Foodbank! And Lister the Lion was around to remind people who to list with! :-)
Inside the Mall - next to the Kiosk we set up two face-painting stations and what a hit! Sue Chamberlain and Yours truly painted dozens of children's faces (and the odd teen) and handed out Halloween Candies! It was fun - reminded me of my children's parties and events when I was the designated face painter........I loved those smiley faces - sometimes the simple pleasures really do bring us the most joy~! Have a look at these adorable smiles!

My Personal Favorite!

Seems like every city has a tower.......a marker - a source of pride ~ well it was the final stop on my Journey to Toronto - and a fitting way to end the day......I so wanted to catch the sunset a top of CN Tower...
What I didn't realize was the 4 hrs of waiting time it would take to get up and down it! For those of yOu that know me - I'm probably not the most patient person in the world...........And after spending the last 6 hour walking at the Canadian Exhibition - then walking another hour to the Tower........yikes....I wish I'd known - I guess Saturday Evening Labour Day weekend was probably not the smartest choice of time........but c'est la vie :-)
The CN Tower consists of several substructures. The main portion of the tower is a hollow concrete hexagonal pillar containing the six elevators, stairwells, and power and plumbing connections. On top of this is a 102-metre (334.6 ft) tall metal broadcast antenna, carrying TV and radio signals.
There are two visitor areas: the main deck level (formerly known as SkyPod) located at 346 metres (1,135 ft), and the higher Sky Pod (formerly known as "Space Deck") at 446.5 metres (1,465 ft), just below the metal antenna. The hexagonal shape can be seen between the two areas; however, below the main deck, three large supporting legs give the tower the appearance of a large tripod.
Guinness World Records has called the CN Tower "the world's tallest self-supporting tower" and "the world's tallest free-standing tower...although there seem to be some semantical issues at play -
On September 12, 2007, the Burj Dubai, a hotel, residential and commercial building being built in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, passed the CN Tower's 553.33 metre height. The CN Tower held the record of tallest free-standing structure on land for over 30 years. The tower, as of 2009, stands as the third-tallest free-standing structure on land in the world, the tallest completed structure, and the second-tallest free-standing tower, after the top-out of the Guangzhou TV & Sightseeing Tower in China.
Bird's eye view!
Well the goal was to make it to the top just in time to catch the sunset - talk about cutting it close!
I'm not usually scared of heights - but the walkabout the top did make my stomach just a little queasy!
I watched at Dad lay down his baby on that mesh and take a photo. I thought I was going to pass out!
Roger's Centre in the Blue.....
Almost as beautiful as a black starry sky!
In June 2007, the tower was outfitted with 1,330 super-bright LED lights inside the elevator shafts, shooting up over the "bubble" and upward to the top of the tower's mast to light the tower from dusk until 2 a.m.
Actually it wasn't my final final stop - at the end of that very long day -Rachel and I met Sylvie went for a midnight sup at a great pub.........so yes got to try the organic Mill st. Beer - Yum!
