semi WORDLESS WEDNESDAY- March went out like a Deer in North Carolina

www.justnchomes.com

In a follow up to my post March coming in like a lion in Apex on March 3, this is North Carolina on March 31, going out like a lamb deer.. We have a beautiful warm sunny day. The tree are just starting to bloom. And to make it even more perfect, I was visited by my deer family.

There are actually 4 deer here, but 2 were lying down while these 2 stood guard about 30 feet from my back door where I was standing. I talk to them very softly and they'll just stand there and listen. My daughter is now calling me the "deer whisperer".

How could anyone not want to live here? If you're looking to relocate or move anywhere within the Triangle area of North Carolina, please visit our website at www.JustNCHomes.com or call either my partner Craig Rutman and I at 919-771-7779.

My Favorite Bookstore in Town- There's One in Your Town too!

My favorite bookstore in town- there's one in your town too!Cary real estate

No, it's not one of those big chain stores that sell coffee and atmosphere.

apex North Carolina

It's not a cozy little hole in the wall place in the trendy college area of town.

raleigh North carolina Real Estate

It's not one of those places where someone is singing & playing the guitar for atmosphere as in "Friends"

Where am I talking about? The Thrift Store, of course

In every size town there are usually at least a few thrift stores. In Raleigh, Cary & Apex, North Carolina, we have many. I try to stop by those stores once in while that are run by volunteers and where I know that the profits go to charity. The Dorcas Shop in Cary, Salvation Army Store in Garner, and Goodwill store in Cary are just a few stores that do good work with other people's donations and money.

I clean out my closets, donate my "stuff" (which we all have too much of anyway) at the back door donation area, and then go inside the store to see what other stuff I have to have!

I usually find at least a couple of good books, priced so low that you have to get a few.

Just this week I found, among others:

  1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People- by Stephen Covey- Paperback, 50 cents
  2. The Purpose Driven Life- by Rick Warren- Hardcover, 75 cents
  3. Ten Things - by Maria Shriver-hardcover- 75 Cents
  4. The Greatest Generation- Tom Brokaw- hardcover- 75 Cents
  5. Dave Barry in Cyberspace- Hardcover- 75 Cents
  6. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou- paperback- 50 cents.
  7. I Never Promised you a Rose Garden - Joanne Greenberg- paperback- 50 cents
  8. The Dilbert Principle- Steve Adams, hardcover- 99 cents.

All of these books are in practically new condition. That's 8 books for only $5.50!

If I like the book and think I will read it again, I'll keep it to add to my library. If it's a quick read novel, I read it and then donate it back to the store! If I start to read a book and don't like it, which happens on occasion, I've only spent less than a dollar on it so it was worth a try. Then I give the book back to the Thrift Store on my next trip.

Thanks to the many people here on Active Rain who've suggested good books, I now have a list of books to look for and have been finding many among the stacks of books that people have donated.

Besides great prices, there is an ever changing inventory as new donations are added all the time. Sometimes you can get very old books that have been out of print, sometimes you get today's best sellers!

And the best part- it's just another way to think Green. Reduce the waste of money (yours!) and resources by reusing someone's old book and recycling your books. And you help charities at the same time!

I've got many months worth of books to read now, so you know what you're going to be reading reveiw of in the Active Rain Book Club blogs!
