Several weeks ago in North Carolina we had a strange weather episode. About 5pm the sky got very dark, then a high wind picked up. Soon we had a torrential rain that lasted about 15 minutes. When the rain storm passed the sky turned a weird shade of yellow. I stepped out on my deck to see that sky and then spotted this beautiful rainbow that spanned the whole sky. Suddenly it turned into a double rainbow! You can't see it in this picture, but it was a full rainbow with 2 ends.

Many people in the Apex & Raleigh area saw the rainbow and talked about it for days.

Maybe this rainbow will bring us all a pot of gold and good luck for the year.

We rarely have snow in Apex North Carolina- maybe once every 3 - 4 years.

(Yes, for all you people up North, that's years, not days.)

What a beautiful sight we woke up to yesterday morning. How appropriate that on Inauguration Day, 2009, with the nation ready for a new beginning, to wake up to see the ground covered in a fresh white blanket of snow.

Unlike up North, because it rarely snows here, we don't have the equipment to clear the roads. The theory is, it'll melt the next day and take care of the problem! Although there are enough plows to clear the major roadways and highways, residential streets rarely get plowed. Therefore, all the schools close and most businesses also. So get out the sleds, make the hot cocoa, and enjoy the unexpected day off!.

Now that the holidays are over, have you noticed all the ads for weight loss products and exercise equipment in the papers?
