From my point score, it's obvious that I've written more than a few blogs. The Activerain network has definitely inspired me to write about the real estate community in Southwest Florida, as well as the community itself.

In addition to writing blogs, I read blogs from fellow real estate professionals, not just Realtors, but Mortgage broklers, title agents, home designers, etc., and from them have gained even more insight into the different apsects of the world of real estate. I have been amused at the stories and adventures of fellow Activerain Realtors. I have learned from the expertise shared in posts by technical gurus. Without doubt, Activerain is the most influential Real Estate network in this country and I'm happy to be a member. The sky is the limit. Now everything is even faster and more visual. I am going to embrace all this. After all, throughout the years Activerain has made me a better Realtor and in return I have much more to offer to my clients. Yes it is about them.

Let's Celebrate . . . . Winter in Florida starting Tomorrow

After a hot Florida summer, we Floridians are all looking forward to a Florida winter. It begins tomorrow. During the day tomorrow, the humidity is predicted to dissipate and instead of 90's, the high will only reach 87 and tomorrow night, the temps will fall in the 60's. My wife has already purchased the champagne and checked out her jeans to be sure that they still fit. It's been a long time. Sunday, the high temperature will only be 81. Both of us are looking forward to shutting off the the AC and opening up the windows. Dinner on the deck overlooking the gardens that are always in bloom. A walk along the Bay or beach after . . . there's nothing to match a Florida Winter. And, this year on Fort Myers Beach, Florida, it begins tomorrow.

Now I can eat more for breakfast

  For many years I have enjoyed walking, biking or jogging the shore of Fort Myers Beach. There is always something new. It is a moveable feast as Hemingway would say. That morning I did see that our brown pelicans looked bigger and well fed. At that time the sun bounces off the tip of the waves and it blinds you a bit. A bit surreal but tranquil,and powerful. the island is 7 miles plus long. same for the length of the beach. Plenty to explore.

  

   

There is always something to learn. Further away I saw some dolphins playing peek –a-boo but couldn’t get a clear shot. It didn’t matter. I’ll get them another time with my camera. I will be ready with the sports settings.

All is pretty calm except for some power walkers and joggers sweating along the shore. Its a good way to start the day away from work and responsibilities. Healthy exercise to. Now I have a good excuse to eat even more for breakfast.

Fort Myers Beach investments and vacational rentals

This home located in Fort Myers Beach used to have river rocks or crushed stones for its driveway. I think that one of the reason it sold this year is because the previous owner changed the driveway to cobble stones.The attractive type with rounded edges. From the street the home has now more elegance.

Saving money on your home insurance premium

There are quite a few ways to save money on your Florida home insurance premium in South West Florida. Some are quite affordable. They may intel adding hurricane roof strapping's on your rafters. The newer ones with the heavy gage. It wouldn't hurt to double up the rafters with 2" x 6" in case you have only 2"x4" and make sure that these horizontal ceiling beams which stiffens one rafter to the other are strongly bolted or nailed in a way that makes a classical triangle. You cannot beat the strength of 3 nails or screws in a triangle unless you bolt both pieces.

Roof ridge vents should be screwed not nailed.

Stiffen up all exterior deck, balusters and pool cages. Stringers should be bolted to the posts. Deck beams should also be bolted to the posts. Posts should have a true concrete footing or solar tube with concrete inground. Garage doors should also be checked for strength.

Of course newer stronger hurricane windows and doors will help a lot, but if all this is to expensive you may just buy manual aluminum hurricane shutters. The accordion type for example.Quite affordable.

Check your roof. Then you are ready for a Florida wind inspection.It cost around $85-$110. That may save you from $300 to over $1000 on your premium per year. The inspector will look mostly at the strength of your windows,doors and roof. It figures.

I didn't say that this blog was going to be hysterical but all this will save you money and will give you a peace of mind. Then you will smile.
