2011 December Blogging Challenge-Day 16 - Change is in the air

2011 December Blogging Challenge-Day 16 - Change is in the Air

Change is good; change is exciting. And change is happening.

Three years ago I changed real estate offices. I love being part of Today Sotheby's International Realty in San Carlos, and won't change that.

leaving San CarlosPacific Place, San Francisco

Three months ago I changed residences. After living in the same house in the White Oaks area of San Carlos, and happily raising two families there, it was time. Gene and I are loving our new life in a high rise condo in the heart of San Francisco.

Yesterday I applied for a secondary board membership, with the San Francisco Association of Realtors. I also renewed my membership for 2012 with the San Mateo County Association of Realtors, my home base and where my business focus will continue to grow and flourish.

Today I'm continuing my steps to grow my business in 2012 with a new niche, serving empty-nesters and baby boomers who are interested in making the switch from suburban living to city living. Who knows this demographic better than I? Who can sell the lifestyle of my area of town with more joy and passion?

Change is good, and change is in the air.

December's Season of Celebrations & Sharing-Active Rain Generosity

Generosity is Alive and Well at Active Rain Meet up, Emeryville, CA
Yesterday's highlight for many of us was the Active Rain Meet Up in Emeryville, CA, organized by Kathleen Daniels. About 20 of us, representing most of the San Francisco Bay Area counties, gathered for a mid-day networking celebration at the Elephant Bar.

Today Sotheby's International Realty, San Carlos CASince my office, Today Sotheby's International Realty in San Carlos, CA, was collecting food and monetary donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank, it seemed natural to ask my Active Rain colleagues if they wished to support such a good cause and spread some joy and happiness with others who could use a boost.

Second Harvest Food Bank collection barrelsSecond Harvest is the main food bank serving San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, where one in 10 people come to them for food assistance.

In true Active Rain fashion, people happily pitched in to help others.

Today, I gave checks totaling $315.00 to my broker!!

What else can I say? I love the spirit of Active Rain!

December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing - Coats for Kids San Carlos CA

December's Season of Celebrations & Sharing -
It's Coats for Kids Week

The City of San Carlos CA and Recology San Mateo County have joined together to give us a super simple way to help our neighbors. They have partnered for the 2011 Coats for Kids program, which provides new and gently used coats for families in need.

This is the week San Carlos residents can participate, and here's how:

  • place gently used or new coats in a clear plastic bag labeled "Coats for Kids"
  • put the bag on top of or next to the blue Recycle Cart for collection during the week on the regularly scheduled pick up day.
  • if you miss your day, simply take the coats to City Hall, 600 Elm Street, San Carlos, 8:00-5:00, by Friday, December 16.

See? I told you it's simple.

December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing Contest-Redwood City CA -- Eat Well and Do Good at Bangkok Bay Thai Restaurant

Eat Well and Do Good at Bangkok Bay Thai Cuisine in Redwood City CA

Bangkok Bay Thai Cuisine statueBangkok Bay Thai Cuisine in Redwood City is my favorite Thai restaurant, my 'go to' place for lunch with a friend, or for dinner with my husband. The ambiance is pleasing, the food delicious, and the family-owned and operated business obviously takes pride in creating and serving an enjoyable, memorable meal.

Even more than that, Bangkok Bay Thai Cuisine cares about the community, and supports both local and world-wide causes.

On Monday, December 12, Bangkok Bay is hosting a one-day fund raising event. They will donate 50% of the day's sales to help the victims of the recent flood disaster in Thailand, the worst flooding in 60 years.

There are 3 ways you can help:

1) have lunch or dinner at the restaurant
2) order take out or catering for your office
3) buy gift certificates for friends and family

Why not support a fine local restaurant, a good cause, and treat yourself or loved ones to a delicious meal, all at the same time? It's a win-win-win!

Today in San Francisco-getting in the holiday spirit

Today in San Francisco-getting in the holiday spirit

Saturday-a day for some exercise and personal time-a day to enjoy our fair city-a day to see the beauty and spread the cheer.

Christmas lights are going up, in private homes as well as in businesses. Christmas trees and wreaths are being sold at Whole Foods, at Cole Hardware, at other places around town. I see more wreaths in proportion to trees here in this urban area than I do in suburban San Carlos and other Peninsula and Silicon Valley cities.
