Celebrate EARTH DAY all year long

Try calculating your personal impact on the environment and see where you can make small changes. With so many environmentally smart ideas and products available, going green can be easy.

DO: Shop locally. Visit your neighbourhood farmer's market and support your community.

DON'T: Buy international fruit. The fuel used to transport and ship can be wasteful and environmentally damaging.

Do: Buy a stainless-steel water bottle. You can refill it from your tape or from your filtered water dispenser.

DON'T: Purchase bottled water. Bottles expand energy in the manufacturing process, transportation and distribution. There are also costs of recycling pickup or taking waste to landfills.

Do: Use environmentally friendly products like cold water laundry detergent, which can help you reduce you energy bill.

DON'T: Overuse your products. Many cleaning products are available in concentrated forms so that you can you use less for the same results. Be sure to read products labels for recommended use.

Do: Recycle and compost. Be sure to check your local municipal recycling guidelines, because different cities may or may not recycle certain items. Peel recycle website.

DON'T: Buy styrofoam products of overstuff your garbage can. Recycling and composting leftover food and paper products will help reduce garbage buildup and ultimately the greenhouse gases get emitted from landfills.
