Our York County, SC Rescue Group has a cute girl that needs a home!

The 2 to 3 rescue groups that I work with in York County, SC to have some of the laws changed, always have a lot of dogs and cats that need homes. We had gone out to animal control with Christmas gifts for the workers and someone came in while we were there, they had found this sweet little girl in a parking lot wandering around. Please let us know if you know of anyone that would like to adopt this sweet little girl.

What happened To Micheal Vick's Dogs...happy endings!

It is unbelievable that someone could do what Vick did to his dogs! What is worse is that it is still happening and if people do not take a stand against these horrible people it will continue to happen. From my understanding it is very hard to catch these people doing these horrible deeds, they wait until 3 or 4 in the morning to get started and it is virtually impossible to stop them. The Humane Society of the United States offers a $5000 reward for information that leads to a conviction of dog fighting. You can order FREE REWARD posters and other handouts from the HSUS by going to their website which would help trendeously if everyone that cared about this issue would hand or hang them all over the place because these people will turn on each other.

On a happier note take a look at the happy endings that some of Micheal Vick's pitbulls got!

York County, SC Council Meeting on January 5, 2009 Dog Chaining Laws

CROSS POST to YORK & Charlotte Friends PLEASE!!!
PLEASE WE DESPERATELY NEED YOU!!!! We had a great turn out the first time, but the last meeting we had 12 people. I think the opposition actually had more. PLEASE this is for BIG CHANGE. We are always cleaning up for IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS, please help force them to be accountable. In the long run we will be helping thousands of animals from abuse.

The meeting is JAN. 5th, Monday at 6th Congress St. in York at 6:00.

UPDATE:
Likely to pass with support.
1 Animal Control finally having enforcement powers!!! (They can actually write citations, like in Charlotte and most everywhere else!!)
2 Sanitary living conditions will be required for animals, now dogs can sit in piles of feces. We have seen it too many times.
3 Adequate shelter will be better defined, no crates!
4 Animals will also not be allowed to be sold off the street, flea markets and similar places.
5 Sadly, No tethering will not be passed, but rather dogs must be on a 10 ft. chain with a swivel stake to help prevent tangling. This is frustrating, but not the end of this fight. We will revisit the issue in a few months. It will eventually happen and we need the above things to happen in order for them to be able to enforce NO-Tethering. AC has a lot of training and changes that they need to put in place, so when we push for NO-Tethering again they'll be ready!!! We just have to keep chipping away. We are thrilled that they have listened to us and are actually pushing for change!!!!

There are more POSITIVE changes at Animal Control, some examples are screening for adoptions, helping to spay/neuter pets that are picked up and returned for a low cost and more!!

PLEASE COME OUT TO SHOW SUPPORT, SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THE ABOVE PASSES. ALSO, THEY NEED TO SEE THAT WE CARE ABOUT YORK'S ANIMALS.

New Year's Resolutions...Do I dare?

Does anyone actually sit down and really think about what they want for the new year? I know through the years I have made my new year's resolutions, giving it about 5 minutes of thought and of course by the tenth day of the new year I have totally forgotten what those resolutions were. Well, I have been thinking about it and mulling over this whole resolution thing for about 2 months now...yes, I said 2 months. I am the kind of person that has to totally plot and plan any change, purchase or life alteration and by golly I think I can do it this time!

I have taken classes on scheduling and planning my business and my personal life and I have just about wrapped my head around it. I know that I cannot be perfect but I am totally committed to planning my work and working my plan. I am 98% ready to start 2009 full force ahead, no looking back, get out of my way here I come! I am time blocking from day 1, lead generating 3 hours a day Monday trough Friday. That is my major resolution. My second is to get my health back on track...I need to lose weight!!!! Number 3 is to serve others in a more efficient way, I will be setting a certain amount of time each week to work my passions (helping with the homeless people in my area and animal rescue issues).

I can't promise I can will hit my goals 100% but I can promise myself that I will give 100% trying to hit my goals! Anyone else have any good resolutions?

York County, SC Committee for Responsible Pet Ownership

York County, SC there is a new committee which consists of a few of the area's animal rescue groups and a few other people that do animal rescue on their own. This committee is in the process of trying to change the dog chaining laws in York County and also trying to educate the public on what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. Being a responsible pet owner is not a natural thing for some of the people in our area.

All of our committee members are always looking out for those that cannot look out for themselves.

Like this little guy, he is laying in garbage, not because he wants to but because there is no other place for him. As you can see his dog house is not much of a house especially when the temperatures hit 20 degree at night not to mention the rain we have been getting. I have numerous other pictures of this type of abuse which is happening in York County, Chester County, Lancaster County and many other SC & NC areas.

We are in the process of creating a website for The Committee For Responsible Pet Ownership and will hopefully be able to help the people that need and want help and support from our group and educate the public as a whole on proper pet care. I do know that we will be having fundraisers and auctions to help raise funds which will help us in our quest to protect those that cannot protect themselves.
