FORCLOSED DOGS! Did you realize it? I was in the Hermosa Beach Animal Hospital and met 'CHANCE" a black standard poodle. His new owner family spoke to me about all the animals in Arizona that have been left in forclosed homes. The pound has more than they know what to do. Are you serious? I asked. She told me Chance is named that as in last chance. There are so many homes forclosed that the bank is not going to the home the REO Bank realtor is not going there.
I hear your shock. The bank and Realtors are not even going to the home? True. They have someone drive by at best, snap a photo and drive on in some cases. IMPOSSIBLE you think? After hearing that it is rampant in California too, Riverside County, San Bernardino County too. Animals are being left in the homes when some of the homeowners lose their home. I know that this is true from the lady I met.
Lets get the word out there. Go to homes knock on the door listen for pet sounds. We have a tragedy of animals going on...Lets be the voice!!!!!
Send out ideas, notify everyone you know. Let me know what you are thinking. Lets close the gap between the voiceless animals and out big rescue voice. What can you do?
Anything. Something. This one lady has helped. We can too. Lets make a rainbow result and close up the gap on forclosed dogs and cats.
Dog rescue, hummingbird rescue, cat rescue. Each miracle is a win for another living creature.
The awakening of the first time buyer has been cautious. There was a surge in April and early this month in home buying. The misleading fact of 1/2 of all sales have been REO or bank owned in our state is one thing but the south bay beach areas have few bank owned properties. The slowdown and lending crunch has affected prices. We have higher inventory and it takes longer to sell properties and there are price reductions that have to be factored in.
The other BIG and GOOD factor is that these homes are a short drive to the beach. The glorious Pacific Ocean! This week we toured a new Bank Owned listing on Perkins in North Redondo Beach. We were excited that it was under 700K. Every agent that went on our agent thought it was a great deal. The interesting thing is that some of the listings have had to price accordingly. The new listing coming up down the street that is similar is in top condition, it is also in a block that has a preferred school district for higher performing student test scores. It will be priced slightly more than the bank owned for those 2 reasons. This is why some people start out to buy a home in Redondo Beach and buy in several areas with the highest test scores. South Redondo and this Jefferson School area in N. Redondo Beach
This is actually why some people are buying the other homes sometimes before the bank owned ones.
Investors and out of the country buyers are out buying more than one property at a time. They LOVE LA! Canada, Korea, and Japan, residents, that I have met are visiting and buying.
I have a listing in Torrance with value built in of over 80K in upgrades. The electrical, plumbing, new windows and roof make it more desirable than a similar home without those updates. The sharp first time home buyer today is educated in real estate values and prices. They shop the internet and visit open houses. They don't have to be told to get a lender although they may need to get an update from the lender they have on a regular basis. The rates are still fantastic.
They love our city- Officer Campos and Officer Garcia-love working here in Redondo Beach. Even if it means being bitten by a ‘Possum….opossum…Officers today took the animal to release into the wilder parts of our county.
The neighbor said he was eating the raccoons food… food is food…How will a skunk, cat raccoon or opossum know the difference in whose food is available. It reminds me of Indians and land…it never occurred to them that someone would divide it up and sell it.
What do you readers think? Feed some wild animals and trap others? Most important is the good service the animal control in Redondo provides.
Did you know that a skunk has to be trapped in a very special cage…? They do. It has to do with the skunk smell. The officers use a special slip harness to put on the animal so it could go from one cage to another.
This Possom was transferred successfully. However this skunk was released because it was trapped in an improper cage... So neighbors dont take animal control into your own hands.
The location location location is the first plus.
Palos Verdes is a unique mountain at the foot of Los Angeles and right on the Pacific Ocean.
The topography keeps many residents home for dinner after a day of work, after school sports and they often call for a wonderful chicken dinner to be delivered.
The restaurant is established near the high school and enjoys a brisk lunch and dinner offering to the locals off Silver Spur between Crenshaw and Hawthorne Blvd. in the Peninsula center. You can enter the top of the mountain by going up through Rolling Hills Estates or Hawthorne Blvd from the beach cities.
The second plus is that chicken is the food of choice on many family menus that are eating less red meat and want another alternative to fish. The fresh salads and the entire menu is healthy and full of amazing taste. The flavors come from the Syria and the surrounding countries. It has the California plus of including Chinese Chicken Salad, Greek Salad, along with chicken and lentil soups.
This business offering is soon to be on the MLS.

What a nice place to move to if you are in the East coast and want to come to California.
Imagine a plastic mat across the sand. Moms with strollers, wheelchairs, wagons, canes, and all alternative ways to get closer to the water across the sand.

Beaches
Beaches are a place where people gather to play on the sand and be at the water's edge. The sand is a barrier to those of us with crutches, canes and wheelchairs.
Mobi-Mat RecPath can help you :
I read about the Mobi-mat in The Beach Reporter the main local newspaper for Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach cities. A concerned resident named Evelyn Frey asked the city to consider the mat from our local "Strand" walk/jog/bike bath to the water. This plastic mat is used for other applicatioins- Snow, military the list is growing.
My first thoughts were that it is a great idea to explore. It is being used in so many other cities and countries. That's why I linked in the website.
The article said it could cost about 9K to get 1/2 way to the water. The city seems to have it on a hold basis to explore. I think the only way it will pass is to get citizen involvement and business. With Staples center for our local teams, it makes me wonder if you would walk across a RE/MAX path, or HOME DEPOT.
Seriously, it may only be a matter of time before we have ads on the sand.
Ok I don't like that idea so much either. I do like the idea of everyone having a chance to get to the beach. All it takes you is to know one person you love and care about in a wheelchair to know that you want the world accessable to them.
Just when we think we are part of a new age we find a newer state emerging.
