Abacoa in Jupiter consists of many subdivisions: Antigua, Cambridge, Canterbury Place, Greenwich, Mallory Creek, Martinique, New Haven, Osceola Woods, San Palermo, Somerset, The Islands, Tuscany, Valencia, and Town Center.

You can search all available homes in Abacoa by the above subdivision in our Community Reviews.

Abacoa is a 2,055 acre, master planned mixed-use community designed around the concepts and principles of Traditional Neighborhood Development. The masterplan resembles a patchwork quilt: a collection of different patterns that come together in a cohesive and unified whole. In this richly textured community. One finds seamless transitions between residential and non-residential zones, education sites and recreation areas. Additionally this is the home of Scripps Research.

Abacoa is a place where people can live and work and go to school. Here are neighborhoods that can accommodate people of all ages and income levels, and houses that will function the way that people do today, yet bringing back into play the ideas of the traditional, neighborly community from America's past- front porches, alley access garages, central community greens and community buildings for neighborly get-togethers. All neighborhoods are located within walking distance of many of the shops and services which are helpful to have close by.

Weaving through the Abacoa neighborhoods are the Greenways. These areas of preserved, natural Florida ecosystems are enhanced to provide habitat for wildlife. In particular, the endangered Florida Gopher Tortoise makes the Greenways home. The Greenways also provide storm water management for the entire community of Abacoa. Although these are the primary purposes, the Greenways also provide people opportunities to enjoy and study natural Florida without leaving their own backyards. For additional information on the Abacoa Greenway, you are invited to view an informational flyer that includes background information and even a map!

Abacoa's retail and commercial districts mirror the way that most people conduct their lives, a balance of work, shopping, leisure and home life. If neighborhoods are the soul of Abacoa, the Town Center is its heart. Here will be the old fashioned Main Street setting in all its pedestrian-friendly, eclectic glory.

Restaurants, offices and neighborhood - scale stores mix easily with the university campuses, the stadium and even the golf course just a block away. The pulse of the Town Center will be the rhythm of daily life, with parents running errands and kids meeting their friends with all the resources of a community within easy reach.

Roger Dean Stadium brings baseball into the center of Abacoa, hosting spring training for the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals minor league baseball teams. The stadium blends into the community, hosting and participating in community events and activities. The community commercial centers are situated near Abacoa's main entrances, providing plaza-style shopping with larger stores.

The workplace campus holds the potential for bringing an economic base right into the Abacoa community, but without compromising the integrity of Abacoa's design. Buildings will be situated on a tree-lined street, with sidewalks on both sides, and parking in the back.

More than simply an amenity, the Abacoa Golf Club is intended to be a community resource, an asset that can be shared. The golf course makes what is essentially open space more accessible; it is a public course, with no membership requirements. At the same time the course is designed to be of championship caliber, thus bringing challenge to the play and satisfaction to the game. Whether birdie or bogey, golf at the Abacoa Golf Club follows the course of the game, which is to make it an integral part of its surroundings. The 18-hole championship golf course, designed by renowned golf course architect Joe Lee, opened in October of 1999. Lush, rolling fairways weave throughout undulated landscape, which is surrounded by serene lakes and native vegetation. A design characteristic setting Abacoa Golf Club apart from so many other South Florida golf courses is its flowing elevation changes. Some elevation features may vary from 30 to 40 ft., which offer scenic views while creating exciting golf shots. In typical Joe Lee style, the course's lakes and bunkers meet its sloping fairways with little obstruction, offering a course that is both challenging but fair to golfers of all playing abilities. Abacoa features Tif Eagle grass greens producing the highest quality putting surfaces in the south, year round.

Two contiguous college campuses are across the street from the stadium and Town Center, placing the benefits of a college-town environment practically at the doorsteps of Abacoa residents. The campuses are home to the Northern Palm Beach branch campus of Florida Atlantic University and the Honors College. The two provide a unique mix - the considerable programmatic and research opportunities of a state university system at the branch campus, coupled with the intimate and in-depth learning environment of the Honors College. The Honors College is built around the traditions of the classic American liberal arts education. Enrollment will be limited to approximately 500 top scholars, while creative learning opportunities will know virtually no limits. Cross-disciplinary and customized courses of study, plus one-on-one student- faculty interaction, will be key elements of the Honors College experience.

Northern Palm Beach Campus offers continuing education classes in career skills and personal enrichment, as well as bachelor's degrees for those completing the last two years of their baccalaureate program, master's and certain doctoral degrees. Beacon Cove Intermediate School-Bessie Dubois Campus and Independence Middle School are both newly constructed schools located in Abacoa, with bicycle and pedestrian paths connecting them to all Abacoa neighborhoods.

Two existing schools are located adjacent to the Abacoa property, Lighthouse Elementary and Jupiter Middle schools. The W.T. Dwyer High School and Jupiter High School are situated nearby on Military Trail. All schools are part of the Palm Beach County School District.

Will it Freeze in South Florida Tonight?

Will it Freeze in South Florida Tonight?

The weatherman is calling for a hard freeze for Florida tonight. Well, I don't know about "hard" freeze but, it is cold here today. South Florida is known for it's beautiful temperatures in the winter but we get that occassional cold front during the winter months, that dips down into the state and it can get very cold. With our humidity, it feels colder than it really is. Then add the wind thats blowing and it is cold. As I look out the window it is like a picture postcard of beauty and warmth, blue green ocean, clear blue sky and the sun is shining for miles, but I'll keep the windows closed for a few days....:)

It is 49 degrees in West Palm Beach and Singer Island right now at 3:00pm in the afternoon .

So hang in there tourists, seasonal residents and locals, it won't last long and we will be on our way back to the lovely temperatures that make South Florida the best place to be.
