Paper Mill Playhouse

During the 2008-2009 theater season, Millburn's own Paper Mill Playhouse will start a revolution, go to high school, spend time on the farm, get "Wilde", strip down, and spend a night at the opera.

Musicals and old favorites pepper the six-show theater season this year, starting in September with the classic "Oklahoma!"-the first musical play written by the famed Rodgers and Hammerstein team. This cowboy-meets-farm-girl love story debuted on Broadway in 1943 and became an Academy Award-winning film in 1955. It runs here in Millburn from September 17 through October 19.

From November 5 through December 7, fans will queue up to see the live stage production of mega-hit "Disney's High School Musical", based on the wildly popular Disney Channel movie about Troy, Gabriella, and the rest of the gang.

The caustic comedy of manners, Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" is set in Victorian England and will run from January 14 through February 15, 2009.

Terrence McNally's "Master Class" tells the story of opera diva Maria Callas, her romance with Aristotle Onassis, and her dramatic career. This class act will run from March 4 through April 5, 2009.

"1776", a show about the events of the Continental Congress and the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, will run from April 15 through May 17, 2009.

"The Full Monty" will bring the season to a hysterical conclusion. Based on the popular 1997 film about a group of unemployed blue-collar workers turned strippers, the show runs from June 10 through July 12, 2009.

Subscription packages for the theater season are $78 to $487 and are on sale now. Single tickets go on sale July 28 and start at $25. Paper Mill Playhouse is located on Brookside Drive in Millburn. For more information, call (973) 376-4343 or visit them online at www.papermill.org.

Other performances include a series of Thursday afternoon concerts by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. The "Best of" Series focuses on a composer or a theme:

October 23, 2008, 2:00pm--"Best of Beethoven"

January 1, 2008, 2:00pm--"Best of Vienna"
