FLORIDA KEYS SHORT SALES AND FORECLOSURES.....AND THE WINNER IS......

A Florida Lottery Mega Money ticket bought at a Marathon convenience store is worth $350,000.

Lottery officials said Saturday morning that two tickets matched all four numbers plus the Megaball in the April 10 Mega Money drawing and will share a $700,000 jackpot.

The winning Mega Money numbers were 1-5-22-24 and the Megaball was 16.

The winning tickets were bought at the Tom Thumb at 2565 Overseas Highway in Marathon, and a Naples Publix.

Alice Cooper vs. Jesus Easter

If you know who Alice Cooper is, you must be old like me. Now what in the world does Alice Cooper have to do with Easter? My last child like Easter memory is of getting an Easter basket with an Alice Cooper album in it. I think it was Billion Dollar Baby, one of his last. Now, if you call music by names like albums and records, you're old like me.

Easter lost it's meaning for me for a long time. Getting the Alice Cooper album was really like "jumping the shark" for me. It signaled an end to an era of candies and surprises and ushered in the turning point into adulthood.

From my Alice Cooper days until I was 33 years old I passed many Easters not getting any meaning from the holiday. NONE. Ok, I worked in a restaurant and Easter meant ladies coming in with pastel suits and stupid hats. Other than that it had no meaning for me. Until, a feisty old broad had the nerve to approach me with a concept I had never heard. She told me about Jesus.

She tried to tell me Jesus was Gods son a spiritual super hero that defied the laws of biology and was born from a virgin. That his life was given on the cross to pay a spiritual debt for my sins and that because he did that if I trusted Him and believed in Him I could be forgiven my sins (and they were many) and have eternal life. Well, some of this didn't sit right with me and I argued with her for months until one day out of the blue it hit me, she was right. All the stuff in the bible was right and true and Jesus was the real deal and I believed it all.

So, I am trading in my Alice Cooper Easter for my Jesus Easter. I hope that this Easter you too will know the joy and peace that comes from knowing, really knowing who Jesus is and that he died for you.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

On April 8^th, Sexual Assault Awareness Day, a host of businesses in Monroe County in the Florida Keys will join the Domestic Abuse Shelter in a Porch Light Campaign where they will burn candles with teal ribbons in their storefront windows to acknowledge that our community businesses support the theme "Prevent Sexual Violence....in our workplaces" and the slogan ‘Respect Works"
