Ok, so by now you must have realized that the clocks were set forward an hour last night. In life a lot of things are all about timing. Today I am off to Marco Island for a mini vacation and no I do not own Marco Island. It is this lovely tropical island in the Gulf of Mexico near Naples Florida for those not in the know.

I am feeling ripped off already, before it even starts I am losing an hour of my vacation! Maybe I should have planned better, maybe I am just too stressed with work and the construction of my new home and that the move in date is fast approaching and is on my birthday which I am not looking forward to either.
I think I am in need of my poolside Pina Colada right now!
The Doral Open starts tomorrow with practice beginning today. Miami is center stage this week with Tiger Woods and most of the big name golfers competing in the 2012 World Golf Championships - Cadillac Championship this week. The rest of the Tour will be in Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Open.
We will begin by looking at the WGC. The tournament is played on the TPC Blue Monster at Doral in Miami. Nick Watney is the defending champion, and the winner takes home a cool $1.4 million.
The TPC Blue Monster offers at least two parts of your ideal vacation: water and sand. Despite these hazards, expect the scores to be much lower this week than there were at the Honda Classic last week. We are looking for players who are putting well and driving the ball straight.
There is a large purse at stake here. Once again many non-tour players are in the field. Just like the last WGC event, you are going to want to go with the best players you can while trying to utilize the players who don't make many PGA Tour appearances.
With the balmy weather and all the golf stars this will be a huge fun event for the enthusiasts.
Well it is chilly outside this morning here is south Florida and I am not a fan. A big cold front moved through yesterday with blustery winds and a sprinkle here and there but the sky cleared and I knew what was we were in store for.
If you don't think 54 degrees is cold and that we Floridians are a bunch of cold weather light weights take a look where I found Peanutman after I got out of my bed! I came upstairs to shower and he had left his bed and dug in under my covers. Now do you believe it's cold in south Florida?-LOL
Side note it will be 75 degrees by noon so we will all live.
’Leap Day’ is February 29, which is an extra day added during a Leap Year, making the year 366 days long – and not 365 days, like a common (normal) year. Nearly every 4 years is a Leap Year in our modern Gregorian Calendar.
Ever since Leap Years were first introduced over 2000 years ago with the transition from the Roman Calendar to the Julian Calendar in 45 BCE (Before Common Era), Leap Day has been associated with age-old Leap Day traditions and folklore.
Now today on this leap day of 2012 and I have a new tradition. I am closing on a home I bought for myself today! I should be able to always remember the day I bought it:)
It happened by accident actually as our contracts here in Florida are written with closings dates set
"on or before_____".
I wanted to close at the end of February but didn't care when-the sooner the better for me so I can start construction BUT as it would turn out these sellers couldn't get it together until today. If it had not been a leap year I may have been closing in March.
This extra day tacked on to the month this year has proven to be quite useful to me. I hope it is lucky for all of you reading this as well!
Tell me what you are doing today to make the extra day special:)
Here is a photo of the path I used to take to the beach on Miami Beach when I was much younger. This was the place were us young kids ran through with our surf boards. The place we had our first beer bought by the older kids. Some of us had our first puff on a cigarette there, we made out with our girlfriends there. I revisited it yesterday with an old pal and it was like walking down memory lane.
