Today, as I was hurrying through the pouring rain into the supermarket, I saw one of the Salvation Army's bellringers wet, cold, but still smiling and wishing passers-by a Merry Christmas. Of course, we can't donate every time we pass a bellringer (and the bellringers know this), but a warm smile and a Merry Christmas or some other holiday blessing will be greatly appreciated. Perhaps a cup of hot chocolate or coffee might be appropriate for someone you see frequently in front of your neighborhood store. Christmas is the season of giving, and it doesn't always have to be money.
For the third straight year, St. Johns County, Florida schools have been ranked number 1 in the state. Twenty-four schools in the district received A grades, and two received Bs. Within this district is the lovely area of St. Augustine, boasting wide sandy beaches, great shopping and restaurants, a vibrant art community, two colleges, and a host of tourist attractions. Somehow, St. Augustine still maintains that quiet hometown feel for those who live here. Anyone thinking of relocating to northern Florida should look seriously at St. Johns County. Not only is it a great retirement area, but it's also a terrific place to raise a family. Beat the rush, and buy before the 450th birthday celebration in 2015.
Georgie's is a great little diner in St. Augustine, Florida. If you're in the area and haven't been there, it's worth the trip. The dining car is shiny silver, with a throw back to the fifties appeal. The place is spotless! The owners are Greek and make everyone feel like part of the family. If you go more than once, they remember you. The food is very good, whether you like typical diner food or prefer a little taste of Greece. The tziziki (I've probably spelled that incorrectly) is to die for. Be sure to add an extra side of pita bread. Another good choice is the Greek salad. I always opt for adding the anchovies and capers for that great salty taste. Try the gyro, the burger, or just about anything... it's all delicious. There's also a terrific lemon type soup that is out of this world. Anyway, if you're in the area and looking for a fun place to eat, try Georgie's. BTW, they love children, making it a super choice for families.
Saturday is Florida's Statewide Open House. I'm hoping to see a great turnout here in St. Augustine. Many thanks to the organizers of this event at both the state and local levels. Obviously there was a lot of planning, organization, and just plain hard work involved to get things together for such an ambitious undertaking. The listing I will hold open tomorrow is a beautiful Corona del Mar condo overlooking Salt Run and the Atlantic Ocean. It's a 3/2 with expansive views from the living room and master bedroom. It boasts tasteful upgrades, a Murphy bed, new ceramic floors, two balconies, reserved underground parking, and even an elevator in the building. For all realtors out there with customers who may be looking for a property close to the city, but on the island, please bring or send them to see this ideal home, second home or rental property. It's impressive!
Today was the first of four classes led by Dave Hall of Listing Solutions on social networking and blogging. To be honest, I'm barely computer literate, so maybe to others this wouldn't be so mind blowing... There's so much more that can be done on these sites than merely chatting with friends and colleagues. He clued us in on ways to increase our internet presence and visibility that would never have entered my mind. Great class, terrific instructor, enlightening experience, and well-worth the money. I highly recommend this class to anyone serious about growing his business.
