Malibu Lumber Yard Mall Opens

After several weeks of delays the long awaited opening of the Malibu Lumber Yard mall is opening with celebrity fanfare.

Developers Richard Weintraub and Richard Sperber will celebrate their Malibu Lumber Yard mall with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 9:30 am. The whole weekend is devoted to family activities.

The grand opening is slated for Tuesday, April 21st, hosted by Weintraub, Sperber, and a long list of celebrities, including
Angie Harmon, Jason Sehorn, Anthony Keidis, Brooke Burke, David Charvet, David Spade, Gabrielle Reece, laird Hamilton, Jewel, Matthew McConaughey, Nichole and Steve Tisch, among others. Invited attendees will enjoy cocktails, hors d"oeuvres and music from Ravi Drums and DJ Reach.

Among the 15 retail and food establishments that will open are Cafe Habana, MILK, Adrianna Shamaris, Maxfield, Tory Burch, Intermix, James Perse, alice + olivia, J. Crew, Kitson Men, Planet Blue Kids, Theory and Crumbs. In addition a family style restaurant is planned and a children's dance studio.

The weekend's family activities are face painting, arts and crafts, magic show, Sponge Bob, and more. Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.

Malibu GreenMachine celebrate ground breaking

On April 8th the Malibu GreenMachine celebrated the ground breaking of its Highway Enhancement Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony. For those that have not been to Malibu recently the official consrtuction on the highway median began on March 23rd. With a six week construction schedule, the project is to be completed before Memorial Day weekend.

Currently, soil is being removed from the median between Cross Creek Road and Webb Way. The next step is installation of the main lines of the irrigation system, followed by additional topsoil. The last step is the planting of thousands of plants.

World Wildlife Fund is sponsoring "Earth Hour," an annual event in which communities turn out their lights for one hour to increase awareness of climalte change. They are asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour – to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.

After more than a year and half, and millions of dollars spent on renovation and the installation of a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility, as well as a half year of delayed planned openings, the Malibu Lumber Yard mall will have a ribbon cutting March 27, and a grand opening April 18.
