The Village of Pinecrest Florida is a beautiful eight square mile city within Miami-Dade County. It's general borders are 88th Street on the north, 136th Street on the south, US 1 on the west and 57th Avenue/Old Cutler Road/Ingraham Highway on the east.

During the early 1900s the area that we know today as Pinecrest Florida was nothing more than a staging area for Henry Flagler´s construction of the Overseas Railroad; a rail line going all the way down to Key West.
After the rail line was finished US 1 was laid down using rock from what used to be a quarry at the corner of US 1 and 112th Street. At that time there were just a handful of settlers and a few businesses at that time.
In the 1936 Parrot Jungle opened on the corner of 57th Avenue and 112th Street. This is now the site of Pinecrest Gardens, the crown jewel of the Pinecrest park system. The old Parrot Jungle moved to Watson Island. Another tourist attraction was the Miami Serpentarium on US 1; it closed in the mid 1980´s. I remember as a kid I would always get a chill when we drove by the serpentarium.
Pinecrest Florida didn´t really start to take shape until the 1950s and 1960s when ranch style homes were being built on large parcels of land. Today, many of these homes have been updated or are being replaced with gorgeous mansions and lovely gardens. There is a wide range of home prices here in Pinecrest, from the $400,000 to over four million. We also have a few condominium and townhome developments such as Swan Lake, French Village and The Reserve.
The Village of Pinecrest Florida was officially incorporated in 1996. Pinecrest has its own governing council, police department and newspaper. There are approximately 20,000 residents in Pinecrest Florida; we have a wonderful mix of ages and cultures here. Since its incorporation Pinecrest has taken great strides in the beautification and modernization of the city. Parks have been built, thousands of trees have been planted, street signs have been replaced, streets have been repaved and in 2008 the Pinecrest library and the Pinecrest Community Center opened their doors.
Besides the beautiful homes, estates, gardens, lifestyle and spectacular shopping close by; families and celebrities are drawn to Pinecrest because of the top rated public and private schools system; the best in Miami-Dade County! We are close to all the conveniences and amenities of Miami, yet we maintain a wonderful community atmosphere. It´s an easy place to get to know people and enjoy the south Florida lifestyle. That small town feeling can be found at one of our parks, shopping centers or at the popular Pinecrest Gardens.

Though no major roads run through Pinecrest, we are very conveniently located close to the expressways and the turnpike. The metro rail system is also a wonderful option we Pinecrest residents have to go downtown or to bayside.
