An Example of a Niche Market

marina, fog, norris lake

Several have discussed having a niche market. Well, it has worked well for me before I even knew that there was such a thing. You see about 10 years ago we were working with a group of investors that wanted to buy property within a certain price range that was commercial. We advertised for such and were soon contacted by the owner of a marina on a lake about 125 miles from here. That was the beginning.

We went on the listing appointment and somehow managed to say the right things because we got the listing. At the time we had no idea what a block anchor, a winch system, contour line etc. were but we'd listen and then go find out. Heck, we didn't even know what due dilligence was.

Somehow we stumbled through and ended up selling the place. From there it just took on a life of it's own. We were contacted by another owner and began to work with him; this time with more knowledge behind us and then as the story goes; and he told a friend and he told a friend and on and on. Soon we DID know a lot about marinas and the TVA guidelines and became known as marina experts. From there we branched out to selling other waterfront properties and fast forward to today.

You can do it. Just find a type or aspect or area that interests you and begin pursuing it. Most people don't have the perserverence so eventually you will stand lone in your niche. Did we get rich fast? NO NO and NO, but, eventually it developed into an easy living.

A Christmas Eve Tragedy

I got this email today and I wanted to pass it on. These are two of the hardest working, nicest guys that I know. They are members of my kennel club. I thought that maybe some of you would like to help. If you can't help them financially, please keep them in your thoughts and pryers. I know that any dog lover could appreciate the depth of their grief.

*Christmas Eve Tragedy*

As many of you may already know, on Christmas Eve 2007, Her
Majesty's Pomeranians suffered a heart-breaking disaster. While
Chuck and Randy were at a family function, an electrical fire
ignited in their home, losing 85% of the house when it was over. The
worst part of the tragedy is the loss of many of their Pom kids (17
to be exact). All of their female Pom's were in the upstairs and
died of smoke inhalation. Miraculously, one mother Pom lost her own
life but saved her 2 two day old pups which she laid on to protect.

On February 2nd, 2008, at the Conyers Kennel Club Show in
Atlanta, the Chattanooga Kennel Club (CKC) will host a
“shower reception” in Randy and Chuck’s honor. Ron and
Connie Russell of S & S Pet Supply, who are also members of
the CKC, have graciously set up a web site gift registry.
The link at the bottom of the page will take you to the S &
S Pet Supply web site where you may purchase items and set
the ship to address as Her Majesty's Pomeranians. Items that
are not on the site may be purchased as well, just send a
e-mail to owners@snspetsupplies.com
<mailto:owners@snspetsupplies.com> with the item you would
like to provide. We will find the item and let you know the
cost. These purchases can be for the kids or for the parents
as they have lost all their belongings as well. As we
identify additional items that are needed, we will add them
to this site. If you order an item that has already been
purchased, we will let you know. If you already have items
that you would like to donate or purchase from another venue
have them shipped to us at the address on the bottom of this
page and we will include them in the presentation. Each item
will be gift wrapped with a donor’s name, unless otherwise
specified.

Chuck and Randy have truly experienced a devastating loss.
And while we can never replace the wonderful spirits that
were lost; we can help by providing basic supplies and other
items needed to care for those who are still with us. It
will be good for Chuck and Randy's spirits to get back into
the show ring as quickly as possible. We wish Chuck and
Randy continued strength through this difficult time and our
thoughts and prayers are with them.

Any items ordered for this cause will receive a 10% discount
from S & S Pet Supplies you will need to use the code
"CHUCK/RANDY" on the check out page and the ship to address
must be set as;
