I just thought that some of us might want to expand our knowledge base of building materials that are used in today's homes

So What is PEX? - it is cross-linked polyethylene (on molecular level )it is great for hot and cold water lines
How long has PEX been used? - it was developed in 1960 .It has been used in Europe since that time ,it was introduced in US in 1980's.
You can find many more answers or FAQ's on the web. There is lot more benefits I think in Pex than I can to mention .Mainly it is the ease of use ; there is no soldering (no fire danger) ;no theft danger like with copper piping ,easy to repair ,no cold joints and more .
Pex is made in couple of diameters ,clear or color coded (red, blue) with plastic ,brass or copper fittings. You can use pex to extend or remodel existing piping .Making connections is very easy .
a/cut desired length of tube b/insert connection slip ring over the end c/expand tube with expander tool d/insert fitting ... you're done ... very fast ..
Here is one of the current projects that is made with PEX ( Uponor )- it is the BELLEVUE TWIN TOWERS - so if you're going to be selling one of the units there ,you know now what is the plumbing made with -like you've build it. I've enclosed link to the video if you want to see it . http://www.uponor-usa.com/Header/Systems/Plumbing/Overview.aspx I hope this link will be functional .
So this was the crash course in PEX/AQUAPEX .If any of you need more links or want me to do series on building materials incl.electrical basic systems and more ,let me know.
When have you checked the technology news lately? It has been about 3 months ago when the hard drive on one of our laptops decided to quit. In order to replace it I had to do little research to decide for the right drive. During my search I have discovered that new type of hard drives for PC 's is coming this year . It is called SSD (solid state drive) and it is similar in theory to the digital camera's cards. There is no moving parts ,so it makes it shockproof, using less energy etc.
I have enclosed a link to the HP site which goes into more detail on this product : http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/us/en/messaging/feature-ent-solidstatestorage-bl495cg5serverblade.html
Because it is new product there is still high cost for even small amounts of memory .Check this resellers website to get the feel for pricing : http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=636&name=Solid-State-Disks
I hope you have found this info useful and this way you can start conversation about new and upcoming technology with your savvy buyers or sellers .
