Are you aware of the quality of life in Southwest Washington State? Let me tell you why I love living in Clark County Washington. First I love the water. The mighty Columbia River is a boating/fishing/cruising/sailing paradise. Beautiful lakes and rivers surround Clark County. A trip to the ocean beach is only 2 hours away, or vacation in the San Juan Islands is just 5 hours north. Get away to the mountains in about a half hour. In 1.5 hours you can be skiing on Mt Hood or windsurfing in the Columbia River Gorge. Mark your calendar for all the seasonal festivities in the small towns around the Portland/Vancouver area or take a tour of the wineries. Just about any place you travel in the Northwest is scenic, the mountains are majestic and valleys lush. This year we had a lot of snow but that is not the norm... In Clark County I can relate to the movie White Christmas! The summers are crystal clear and fall colors are gorgeous. I believe the Portland/Vancouver metro Area is the best place to live on the West Coast. You have a choice of living in a big city, small town, or in the country; a home on acreage, fancy condo, and everything in between. Yes we use a little moss control in the spring but we don't have much need for mosquito repellent in the summer. If you are thinking of moving to the Area I would be honored to give you a grand tour of homes in Southwest Washington.... It is a buyers market!!
The haunted houses of 2008 are all those foreclosed homes! I have toured many of these haunted houses this year and it is sad to think of the families that once lived in them.
We need to return to the good old days when buyers saved more than they spent, when they saved for a real down payment, and modest home they could afford. When bankers made loans based on conservative income ratios, verified jobs, credit worthiness, and low fixed rates. When homeowners spent within their means, did not use their home's equity as a line of credit, built equity by paying off deft quickly, and maintained their homes as long term investments.
The biggest blood sucker to future wealth is debt. It is the interest people pay on home loans and credit cards. Have you ever wondered why bank buildings are usually the fanciest buildings in town? It is interest paid on mortgages and credit cards. The paid off home mortgage truly is the best status symbol. I say quit paying for big bank buildings rather pay for your home in full as quickly as possible.
You know what the good old days really were? It was back when people were not trying to remove God from the history and fabric of our nation. It was when God was the status symbol of choice because we realized only God could give us the common sense to do all of the above.
