I would like to congratulate Jill Bobenhouse Tesar of Deeb Realty. Jill is the January winner of my monthly feedback incentive. As a way to encourage feedback when someone shows my listings, I have a monthly drawing for a $25 gas card. I would like to thank Jill for her feedback and her professionalism!
Thanks again, Jill.

One of my favorite subjects in school was history. This past week I went on a listing appointment and this listing had a unique feature that was a direct result of events that shaped the later half of the 20th Century. It had a full blown three room bomb shelter with electricity! It was located in Bellevue near Offutt AFB which at the time of the cold war was the HQ for the Strategic Air Command.
Currently, the bomb shelter has been sealed shut. I was told it had three rooms, electrictiy and a reinforced concrete roof that is three feet thick! This would make a cool get away, tornado shelter or a "fort" for a ten year old!
Here are a few photos

Stay tuned,

One of the unforeseen challenges when moving is the proper disposal of household hazardous wastes such as old paint, motor oil, and other household solvents. Residents of Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska are fortunate enough to have a specialized waste disposal center located at 4001 South 120th St in Omaha, Nebraska.
UnderTheSink.org is specially designed to accept such items as acids, paint thinner, paint, varnish, pesticides and other types of solvents and cleaners. UnderTheSink is owned and operated by the City of Omaha with funding made possible by the Nebraska Environmental Trust, The Peter Kiewit Foundation, Omaha World Herald Foundation and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.

Imagine if you purchased a home and you were unaware that your agent received a "bonus" that was somehow contingent on the price that you offered and YOU were not aware of it? Here is an example of a incentive that personally gives me heartburn! These are agent remarks in the MLS and not visible to the general public.
As a buyer, you should be aware of any special compensation your agent received. This should be disclosed to you in writing at the time you made the offer. There is nothing wrong with a seller offering an incentive, however it is very important that THE BUYER is aware of any bonus the agent might receive especially when it is connected to the purchase price!
Thanks,
