Once again we have a Mexican food restaurant in the Paia General Store Building on the Hana Highway in Paia Maui HI. We love to have lots of good food choices in Paia! I have yet to stop by since there have been a lot of new eateries lately.

The Harbor Shops and Restaurants - Maalaea Harbor Village, Maui Hawaii
If you plan to visit Maalaea on Maui be sure to stop at the Harbor Shops where you can browse the stores and grab a bite to eat. It's located right next door to the Maui Ocean Center aquarium which is probably on your list of things to do on Maui anyway. Looking for some cool trinkets and souvenirs to take home? You can find all that here, and more. There's even an Arts & Craft Fair every day, so watch for those signs.
Here's the crowd gathering in front of the Pacific Whale Foundation headquarters before getting briefed for their Whale Watch Excursion at sea. In the winter months tourists love to take advantage of the great opportunity to see the Humpback whales up close in their calving grounds of Maalaea Bay.

Maalaea Maui Art & Craft Fair is open every day at the Harbor Shops!
You can find Maui made arts and crafts every day in the big room overlooking the Maalaea Boat Harbor, at the Harbor Shops in Maalaea. Vendors change daily so you can visit often and be surprised at the new items on display. There is a whale and turtle theme of course since the Maui Ocean Center aquarium is next door, and the Pacific Whale Foundation starts their whale watches here at the Harbor Shops. You will also see plenty of nice jewelry and bright resort wear, so plan on spending some time browsing the various vendor stalls.

Currently there are 12 condos for sale at the beachfront complex of Kanai A Nalu - all are Active, none are Pending. Only 2 units are bank owned, and only 1 is advertised as a potential short sale.

MAUI may very well be the Best Island in the World, according to Conde Nast magazine. I'm not going to argue about that.
As one of the Hawaiian neighbor islands, Maui is just a 20 minute plane ride from Oahu, which is the home for Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. Of course you can also fly directly to Maui to our big "city" Kahului. On a good day, you can take the Hawaii Superferry between the islands. The other islands in Hawaii are: the Big Island (Hawaii); Kauai; Molokai; Lanai. Molokai and Lanai are also part of Maui County.
Maui is a melting pot, with an international and multi-cultural population. In addition to the Polynesians who first came to the islands, you will find many other cultures well rooted here, such as Filipinos, Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Portuguese, Thai, and more. When the sugar and pineapple plantations ruled, migrant workers were brought in to work the fields, and diverse cultures flourished in this welcoming climate. Now that tourism is driving the economy, agriculture has taken a back seat. But the central Pacific location still makes this a perfect place for a cross-cultural community. It's all good.

I was Born in England, and grew up in the middle of Canada. After graduating from college in Vancouver B.C. I got married, and moved to Maui in 1980. My husband is a wonderful guy who introduced me to this incredible place called Maui. We tried living in a few locations like Upcountry and Kihei, and settled on the North Shore and bought our first Maui home in 1981. That was our beach house which we fixed up and eventually sold 22 years later. We now live on a farm in Huelo Haiku and have another property in Kailua where my husband ranches and raises organic beef. We live off the grid and love it, producing our own power supply from sun and wind. Rainwater is harvested and stored. Self sufficiency is a goal we have always worked towards.
