Historic Grapevine, Texas Has Something For Everyone

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS - Historic Grapevine, Texas is a charming town of nearly 50,000 located in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth area that offers big-city amenities while maintaining small-town friendliness. Home to DFW International Airport, Grapevine is conveniently located with both Dallas and Fort Worth just a short 20-minute drive away.

Visitors are invited to step back in time and explore Grapevine's beautifully restored Historic Main Street District, chock-full of unique galleries, antique stores, specialty shops and restaurants. Grapevine's Main Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is only seven minutes from the airport.

Discover the best in Texas wine at one of Grapevine's nine winery tasting rooms or tempt your palate at one of Grapevine's 200-plus restaurants. Enjoy world-class shopping at Grapevine Mills - the largest value-oriented shopping experience in the Southwest - and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, with more than 200,000 square feet dedicated to the great outdoors. Stay in one of Grapevine's 5,000 guestrooms that meet any traveler's needs and budget. Hop aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, catch a show at the Grapevine Opry, or visit one of Grapevine's many festivals - all of which bring more than 1 million visitors to Grapevine annually.

HERITAGE
Grapevine boasts a colorful and proud heritage that began in 1844 when settlers first moved to the prairie that earned its name from wild Mustang grapes that grew prominently in the area. In the 160-plus years since then, Grapevine has experienced tremendous growth - but its friendly, Texas-proud spirit is still evident. In Grapevine, more than 75 historic structures have been lovingly preserved. Fascinating walking tours allow visitors to see Grapevine's past first-hand, including its thriving Main Street District.

Another area rich in history, the Historic Cotton Belt Railroad District, allows visitors the opportunity to step into a restored Cotton Belt Depot from 1901 that serves as the Grapevine Visitors Information Center and is home to the Grapevine Historical Museum. The Cotton Belt Railroad District also houses a restored 1888 Section Forman's House, a fully operating blacksmith shop and one of Grapevine's Historic homes - the Bragg House. Throughout the District, visitors can see artisans demonstrate their skills at a variety of crafts from glass blowing to bronze art.

For day-time, family fun, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad offers excursions led by a beautifully restored 1896 steam engine dubbed "Puffy." The Grapevine Vintage Railroad takes passengers over 21 miles of track, from Historic Downtown Grapevine to Fort Worth's Stockyards Station. A one-way ride is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

FESTIVALS
Grapevine celebrates several events throughout the year, with GrapeFest headlining the city's broad festival line-up. The largest wine festival in the Southwestern United States, GrapeFest draws more than 250,000 people each September and is more than 20 years old. In the spring, Grapevine has celebrated its heritage and the beginning of summer with Main Street Days for more than two decades. For 15 years, Grapevine has celebrated its wine-making history and thriving wine industry with the New Vintage Wine Trail in April. This event includes the Jazz Wine Train, the Blessing of the Vines and New Release Wines, with shuttle rides to Grapevine's winery/tasting rooms.

ENTERTAINMENT
Grapevine's Historic Palace Arts Center - which includes the fully-restored Palace and Lancaster Theatres - is a main hub for downtown entertainment in Grapevine. The Palace Theatre, built in 1940, houses the Grapevine Opry - one of the best country and western reviews this side of Nashville. The Palace and Lancaster Theatres are also home to a number of different performing arts groups.

For a true night club experience, Grapevine offers the Glass Cactus. A state-of-the-art live-music venue and nightclub on Lake Grapevine, the Glass Cactus offers live music seven days a week and late-night entertainment daily until 2 a.m.

In addition to the Palace Arts Center and the Glass Cactus, live music is offered in many of Grapevine's Main Street unique establishments in Historic Downtown on nights and weekends.

SHOPPING
Whether you're on Historic Main Street or at one of our shopping centers, Grapevine offers options for any shopper's taste and budget. An incredible array of unique gift ideas are waiting to be discovered in our Historic Downtown where you can find antiques, arts & crafts, galleries, wine, gourmet foods, home furnishings, boutiques, and hand-crafted items in the Railroad District. Finally, to round out your shopping experience, visit Grapevine Mills - the largest value-oriented shopping experience in the Southwest - and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, with more than 200,000 square feet dedicated to the great outdoors, or the Grapevine Towne Center.

DINING
With more than 200 restaurants, Grapevine has enough culinary variety to satisfy any palate or budget. From fine dining to fast food, Italian to Tex-Mex, chicken-fried to Chinese, tearooms to Texas barbecue, - it's all available in Grapevine.

RECREATION
Not only is Grapevine home to fine shopping, restaurants and attraction, it also offers a host of recreational opportunities for visitors. Lake Grapevine, a 7,000-plus acre recreational lake, offers a host of opportunities for outdoor activity, including boating, water skiing, wind surfing and other aquatic activities. Grapevine also offers 26 parks and more than 22 miles of hike and bicycle trails.

Golf enthusiasts can hit the links at Grapevine's top ranked golf courses, including the Dallas Cowboy's Golf Club, and Bear Creek Golf Club. Grapevine is also home to the innovative Texas Indoor Golf Facility, which features simulated golf action on famous courses in a climate-controlled setting.

Lake Grapevine is the perfect place for boating, fishing, camping and picnic facilities. With 146 miles of rolling shoreline and more than nine miles of wilderness trails, Lake Grapevine is also one of the finest hike/bike destinations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

WINERY TASTING ROOMS
