Here is a webcam that they have set up for the building of the Golden Ears Bridge, connecting Maple Ridge and Langley. This bridge is scheduled to be finished later this year. The papers say June... I found this as I was surfing and it is quite cool.

What great exposure for our town. Starting tomorrow (Monday 9th) and going until Sunday, the BC Mens Canadian Direct Insurance Curling Championships are being held at Golden Ears Winter Club (next to Planet Ice)in Maple Ridge.

Tickets are availalbe at $50 for the week, $10 day passes and $7 single game passes. The day passes and the single game passes are only available at the door.

This championship is to determine who is going to represent BC at the Tim Hortons Brier next Month.

There will be round-robin play Monday - Friday and the playoffs will be on the weekend.

Should be a lot of fun, and, it is right here at home.

Just got some information from one of our Lawyer firms regarding the Federal Budget released yesterday.

Apparently there is now a Home Renovation Credit that is available where homeowners can claim up to 15% tax credit that is non-refundable on eligible home renovations that are between $1000-$9000 giving a maximum credit of $1350 per family. These costs must occur after January 27, 2009 and before Feb 1, 2010.

RRSP- Down Payments for first time home buyers has now been increased from $20,000 to $25,000 which can be withdrawn from your RRSP without incurring tax.

Also--- Now for 1st time home buyers, if you purchase a qualified home after Jan. 27, 2009, you can claim a 15% tax credit on up to $5000 for a maximum credit of $750. If this is a joint purchase the total that may be claimed is still $750.
