2 New Lancaster City Revitalization Initiatives

We've all been witnessing the dramatic revitalization efforts in Lancaster City. This has been a time of great change and development. Much of the work is being led by residents, local businesses, neighborhood organizations and civic associations in specific neighborhoods in the city.

Yesterday, I was contacted by Carol McCoy of Lancaster City's Dept of Economic Development & Neighborhood Revitalization with some exciting news regarding 2 new revitalization initiatives. Earlier this year, the city began to develop strategic plans for the city's Northeast and Southwest neighborhoods. The city reached out to residents and neighborhood businesses and together they developed the revitalization plans for both neighborhoods.

Why I love Lancaster City

This is my first blog here on Active Rain. I've started and stopped numerous times but I think this time I'll actually go through with it!

My name is Melissa Brosey and I'm a REALTOR with Long and Foster Real Estate Inc. My focus is on residential and investment properties in Lancaster City and Township. I've sold properties throughout the county but mainly for folks that were moving in or out of the city. Why do I focus on Lancaster City? Because I truly love it here!

I spent my younger years moving around a lot. My family moved to Lancaster County in 1989. During my high school years, my friends and I would take the bus to town for something to do. When I graduated and moved out on my own, I chose to make Lancaster City my home. I've been here ever since. About 8 years ago, I made the jump to home ownership and I still live in my first house with my husband, my 2 sons and a menagerie of pets (dog, fish and a leopard gecko).

Living in the city is the best place I could be. I love that I can walk 2 blocks to the corner store when I'm baking cookies and I realize I'm out of vanilla. I love taking my kids out to First Fridays and Barnstormer's games without having to jump into the car. I love sitting on my porch with my neighbors, drinking wine in the summertime. As well as the opportunity to be involved and make changes in my community.

The city brings a connectedness that I've not found anywhere else. It's that connectedness that keeps me here.
