This is a Public Announcement
My sister, Patti has been quite ill while undergoing Chemo. I just learned that she is in the San Antonio Methodist hospital (4499 Medical Drive) and is scheduled for double surgery Wednesday at 7:30. She is such a brave person. If you live nearby, could you consider delighting her with a surprise visit on my behalf?
In turn, should you need a loved one ministered to down my way, I will not go by myself, but get this awesome little Bible believing Super Interceding church I am a member of--to join with me in ministering to those you are concerned about.
How is that for a trade:-) ?
PS: If you visit, she is bald at this time (heads up).
Mississippi Buyers and Sellers:
For those of you who wonder about Mississippi Death Disclosure regarding real estate law, here it is...
Real Estate Transfer Disclosure for the State of Mississippi. Click here!
Keep in mind there are exceptions that may apply.
Look to the menu on the left side. Click on License Law. Check out pages 26 through 27 (89-1-527).
Note that disclosure is both not required AND required. (Also note that I am not an attorney and do not practice law!). This section specifies that disclosure of deaths that do not effect material value are not required unless a Buyer Agent, or Buyer asks.
So, if you are a Buyer and this is an important history of the home you plan to buy--Ask.
If you are a seller I recommend letting potential buyers know before viewing your home (if you are selling FSBO) and letting your listing agent know and have the authority to gently give that history of your home.
This is my opinion. Some buyer prospects will not have issue with this fact. For the ones who do have issue, its better to know up front than to possibly begin a transaction that fails once this history is discovered.
Incidentally, I could find nothing in the Gulf Coast MLS rules and regs that require such disclosure.
Personally, I prefer the high road, and disclose, disclose. Since Agents are obligated to Obey all legal instructions of their clients, I will only List those that agree to disclose.
Thanks to Jay Badru and his commentors for motivating me to RE-REverify Mississippi Law and MLS Rules/Regs regarding this issue.

I have to admit that I was surprised to see the referenced blog posted in Localism. For some reason, it just doesn't seem appropriate. But, if it works for MS Way, it should work for me as well.
Thank GOD Gustav did not have the power or longevity of Katrina. Hwy 90 was officially closed today, but I had authority this time to snap a few pictures. Keep in mind that some pictures may look bad because of Post Katrina damage, not Gustav damage. Please also keep in mind that the Gulf Coast is healing. What you see along Beach Boulevard is quite different from what you see in the neighborhoods. If you are relocating--I am sure we will have a home you will find suitable.

The mobile is the temporary post Kat Long Beach Yaught Club. The almost finished structure is the New one in the making.
The Temporary club is definitely banged up.
The good, really, really good ending is that the newly built businesses seem to have had little damage, so far--limited to what I saw.
First, I apologize to the Long Beach, MS Government and other workers because I did not think the curfew applied to me. When I started out I was just going to walk around the block. Then I became obsessed, and kept walking. I admit it was very windy. I rationalized that I grew up in North Texas and was therefore, used to strong wind.
I had not realized what a difference a few blocks North or South could make in the strength of the wind. About a block and a half from the beach I realized I was wrong for getting out. So, I stopped at my favorite neighborhood FSBO to chat awhile.
He gave me the low down. We are definitely not allowed to go on the beach (I did not go on the beach). He said the water had crossed HWY 90 and was about half way up the first street.
All that he was aware of were a few boats that didn't hold to anchor and ended up on the highway. He thought I could make it a little further without getting a citation and recommended that I photograph from the K-Mart Katrina slab.
I followed his directions.
These photos actually look a little boring. The wind was too strong to get any closer. For me--that say's, it wasn't only strong--it was downright scary.
It appeared one of Long Beach's finest was heading my way. About that time my favorite FSBO came out and started chatting with the patrol car that had been approaching me. So, I took this as my cue and started walking fast. Well, not so fast... I wan't moving very far in the wind.
I had been turning down rides--because my objective was to walk. It would take me forever to get 1/2 mile in this wind. So, I walked a little further and another vehicle stopped to ask if I wanted a lift. Perfect timing!
The Guardian Angels were out! I didn't know we had official Guardian Angels in Long Beach! Let me introduce you to Christopher Findlay, the Operaction Director for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter of the Guardian Angels, and Richard ..... (sorry, I didn't catch your last name).
As I was getting out of the car (I told them just to drop me at the corner), Christopher asked my name to put into his log book. The minute I said, "Gravenstuk", Richard's eyse lit up. (How many Gravenstuk's do YOU know? :-) . Come to find out Richard knew my son and daughter. He had changed schools so they had lost contact.
Then we decided to have fun with Luke, Miles and Skye... I invited him in. The shock appeal was worth the entire trip. I can't think of anything more fun than surprising your teenagers... I admit, it had been a boring day for them. They were under curfew!
