1st off a BIG thank you to Rick Vuyst - WOOD News Radio 1300 - AM: for having me today on
They were broadcasting live from Flowerland on 28th street in Kentwood, Michigan. Taking donations of food from local people.
Rick asked me to stop by and drop off some food and do a 5 minute spot on f.l.o.w.
I have to admit I was a bit nervous...............but boy was that ever fun!
I enjoyed talking with them and they seemed to be enjoying their jobs!
Kudos's to Rick and "The Flowerland Show" for helping out the community by collecting food!
Rick is also CEO of Flowerland and has a dedication to our community as well. You can view his blog on landscaping and plants here.
So thank you verymuch mulch Rick!
I saw on Fox news last night that Kent County has applied for a 10 million dollar grant to "fix" the foreclosed homes in the area, and put construction crews back to work.
This is very positive news for our area! I am praying and hoping this grant makes its way to us. I am happy to see the city officials taking action.
We do need to make a grass roots effort in restoring the area's that have been hit hard by this declinging market.
10 Million may sound like a lot of money, but in reality it is only enough money for about 100 homes. However if used wisely and spread it around to neighborhoods..........it could create a chain reaction and home owners that live in these neighborhoods will fix up their home as well, or maybe a home buyer will be more inclined to buy in the neighborhood as they can see the beginning of a "new" neighborhood.

What a great lunch we had today! Lola's presentation was timely and accurate for today's market. I was impressed with all the stats she told us about for the future. Did you know that the largest group of people who will/can speak English is not American's? It will be China!!!
She talked about the baby boomer generation who is known as the "ME" group and the new generation that is now known as the "WE" group. This was new to me and very exciting to learn. As this is our up and coming market/clients and we better get to know them better and learn how to appeal to them, or we will loose our share of the market place.
As she was talking about this, I was thinking of my young couple who I have been helping, and they prefer to text me about "stuff". Homes they would like to see, when they want to meet......etc.........
I am lucky I have a son who most of us would refer to as a "geek"! He keeps me updated and teaches me all the new technology.
Lola said (not in her words) that one of the reasons they are known as the WE group is due to the fact they all share things about each other on line............twitter, face book and other sites like these. She mentioned that twitter asks what are you doing..................
Response from the "ME" group ................... none of your business
Response from the "WE" group..............let me tell you all about it......................
I do not know how old Lola is, and I am not going to ask her..............but I am impressed how she keeps up with the times and is not fearful for the future..........meaning she is not afraid of new marketing idea's and the younger generation...........her ability to reach all ages, and her open mind!
So Lola thank you for sharing your time and experience with us today! It is always a pleasure!!!!
Lola has also blogged about the day here.
Some pics from today's lunch!

Last week agents from Keller Williams Realty- Grand Rapids, MI went shopping at Meijer (pronounced meyer) to supply much needed item's for God's kitchen. During these hard times, our local food pantries are really hurting for food and other supplies!
Most every agent in our office donates an amount to KW cares out of their commission checks and at the end of the year we do something for the community.
In the past we have hosted a few families or one very large one and supplied food, winter coats and Christmas presents. However the need is so great this year, we decided to help one of our local food pantries!
You have heard me say it before, but it feels good to help others!!! And boy did we ever have fun!
Another reason I am proud to be a part of Keller Williams Realty! I know times are hard for everyone now, but there is always somebody that is worse off then you..........even though sometimes it may not feel that way. Helping others is not only a good thing to do, sometimes it makes you realize what you really do have and makes you shed a new light on what you are really blessed with!
I am blessed in so many ways!
