Daytona International Speedway...Rolex 24...All Night Long!

I have always enjoyed sports my whole life...it must have been the 3 boys that I have raised..or maybe the 4 brothers I grew up with....not sure but sports have always been an important part of my life!

Funny thing, I never got into the Nascar thing...as a matter of fact I never understood it until after visiting my brother in Port St. Lucie..I realized they do in fact go around the track more than once!

Not only is my brother a Nascar fan but he seems to watch all the races from all of the different organizations!

Go ahead and laugh but I have to say it was not until I moved to Daytona Beach did I even consider following Nascar or racing for that matter!

Now I am not a huge fan...but I enjoy the sounds of the speedway from the office and from my home.

I love the enthusiasm the fans bring....and the driver's aren't so bad either.

I can't say I follow it closely but two of my favorite drivers are...Danica Patrick and Kasey Kahne...Danica Patrick is not even in the Nascar Circuit...but I do follow what she is doing!

These greats are not participating!

Well, lately I have seen license plates from all over place..why because of Racing stars from around the world will be in Daytona Beach at the International Speedway along with their fans.

The speedway has been  a little more active than usual..

Because the Rolex 24 ....January 25th at 1:30 pm is practice..and they are as I hear them go around the track right now! Starting January 26th...not only will they go around the track more than once.....24 hours straight. Can't see them live...you can watch them here:

Daytona Real Estate Market Picking Up! I've Heard Stranger Things! It Snowed Jan. 3rd, 2007

Well it's been a very exciting start of a New Year. We had our first Business Resource Meeting of the year.Our 3 office locations together in one place, marching into the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors at 8:15 am on a cold weary Thursday morning.....January 3, 2007....Kudo's to those who left their warm beds!


This year we decided to spruce up our meetings, no longer business meetings but the new official name of "Business Resource" meetings...

We have them once a month and always at the board.

The best information I got out of the meeting, I admit it...it wasn't my presentation but non other than Nancy-Ellen Otte, general manager of Century 21 Sundance.

One of the things she did was determine how many pending sales each month and new listings for 2007...interest facts she dug up...

Interesting facts we will use.

The most vital information I got out of it...was that December of 2007 was more active in pending sales than any other month in the year. That's right...more than the summer and more than the fall. We(DBAAR) had 198 pending sales occur in the month of December...

In my mind...it seems the market is not dead at all. I have heard of stranger things and yes I was a witness to the snow fall in Daytona Beach. OK, not real snow fall but hey for a Florida girl...3 minutes...was plenty...glad it was quick...I got a little worried...didn't want to have to buy a bag of those salt pellets from Mortons.

After my 3 minutes of pure child-like behavior....running around trying to catch the flakes with my mouth..a few more snowflakes...I would have been making angels. That's right the snow lasted for about 3 minutes.

I went back to my office with a fantastic surprise.

In less than a week, the Pelican Bay office had some activity going on...things seem to run smooth but I felt like we are in real estate once again.

We had over 5 listings come in....2 closings....

It's the Holidays!!!..and 6 new pending deals....

Our offices closed early on New Years Eve in celebration for New Years..a very short work week...and the market is dead?????

Buyer's write an offer...who knows where prices will end up! There are no great values out there?????

False...Seller's will negotiate in most cases if they have a need to sell!!!! and no buyers?????

I heard of stranger things.

It's going to be a great 2008, forget about the old markets and the good old days...THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE!

Be in the here and the now...and know...there is plenty of real estate out there to be sold. Seller's remember that buyer's have choices...and buyer's....it's a great time to buy!

p.s. There are more pendings waiting for me in the office for Monday morning...ain't it great!!!

Your Real Estate World Bores Me!

Real Estate...... Let's see we need brokers to be able to sell real estate, but hey we are independent contractors, we have the choice of being good Realtors or bad Realtors. We do create our own little Real Estate Worlds.

I love the business and I loved selling real estate. Yes I took some training here and there. I didn't want to join a network group or be active in my board. No way, I hate the politics, way to cliquey, I was too busy with my own life and I wasn't going to waste my time.

Oh, yes, I sold lots of real estate but there were things happening in my real estate world that I did not like. Maybe I made the wrong decision. Where are the company policies that I was accustomed to that Corporate America had in place? Dealing with unethical Realtors, mls rules I didn't care for, unwarranted board dues increases, I could go on and on... It's the things we all complain about every day!


Can't say what exactly happened but it must have been big! I joined the Affordable Housing Committee and the MLS Committee in the same year! I really like the benefits of the Affordable Housing Committee but it was short lived when they cancelled the committee. It wasn't long before I was tired of attending the boring MLS Committe meetings that I quit.

When I relocated to Daytona Beach, I didn't think I was going to join the board. Life happens and I did. Coming from South Florida, Daytona was such a small town to know no one! Once again I decided to be on the MLS Committee and once again I was tired of attending the boring meetings, I quit, yup I did it again!

Sounds bad doesn't it? I am not trashing the MLS Committee, I realized the problem was not the boring meetings, it was me. I really had no interesting in contributing to the MLS, whatever the board decided I was willing to accept! When I think back I should have joined committee's that I was interested in! I was trying to be in someone else's real estate world, it bored me, I tried to be open to it but it didn't work for me. It was obvious if it did not work for me, it wasn't going to benefit the committee or it's members.

Well, some things changed! I feel fortunate since joining Century 21 Sundance Realty, the ladies are so full of wisdom. You know the saying, "Great Minds Think Alike!" Ok, if you know us, we all think very differently, it's with a twist. "Great Minds Think Alike! NOT! We know at the end we will find a solution and then we will!"

I think you know what happened, the Ladies convinced me to just give it a try and see if I like it! They told me, "You have a voice! Use it!" They challenged me, I think now you understand. I decided, I'll do it! But its going to have to be my way, my committees, what interests me and what will the membership gain by my point of view.

I decided because of my interested and the committees available to me I would be on the Education committee. That Committee opened the door for me with the Technology Committee. Something shocking happened, I really love it! Why because I decided, my way, my committee's and I was not about to be bored in someone else's real estate world.

What an honor! I personally contribute to each and every member of our board. It amazes me I help select the education the members get the opportunity to take at our board. I view it as a priveledge, I take it serious, their knowledge is in my hands.

I am just as proud of being part of the technology committee, we too have the priveledge of assisting realtors to be technically sound.
