
Celebrate the Season with Laser Holidays
at the Catawba Science Center
November 27 - December 31, 2009
Kick off your holiday season with sparkling laser lights and sounds of the season at Catawba Science Center in Hickory.
Starting Friday, Nov. 27, CSC will begin showing Laser Holidays in the Millholland Planetarium theater.
A family friendly holiday laser light show, Laser Holidays features modern and classic holiday songs set to mesmerizing laser lights.
Seasonal selections include Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," Bing Crosby's "White Christmas," Smashing Pumpkins' "Christmastime" and more.
Total running time for this laser show is 38 minutes.
Laser Holidays is part of a special planetarium schedule Friday, Nov. 27 and will show at 11:30 a.m. & 4 p.m. Additional shows that day include The Little Star That Could at 1:30 p.m. and Two Small Pieces of Glass at 3 p.m.
Laser Holidays will run Nov. 28 through Dec. 31 on:
Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
Fridays at 4 p.m.
Saturdays at 1 & 3 p.m.
Sundays at 3:30 p.m.
Cost is $2 for CSC members and $3 for nonmembers.

Join Dr. Toshiaki Satake and his wife, Michiko, for a hands-on Origami session. Skilled in the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes, the Satakes will teach participants how to make ships, boxes, jumping frogs, peace cranes and more.
Origami Demo Day is free with CSC general admission: $6 adults, $4 youth (3 to 18), seniors (62+), college students and active military with ID. Admission is free for CSC members and children younger than 3.
Origami Demo Day is being held in conjunction with CSC's traveling exhibit Flip It, Fold It, Figure It Out, offering engaging activities to entice visitors of all ages to play with math. Tile shapes into patterns, make origami bats, frogs and cranes, piece together quilt squares, play with rhythmic beats, discover mystery shapes and more.
Flip It, Fold It, Figure It Out is sponsored locally by Galaxy Food Centers, von Drehle Corporation, Bank of America and Wallace Printing. Shipping sponsor is Century Furniture.

Homemade desserts and homemade frozen soups will also be sold.
