Ontario Green Energy Act

The Green Energy Act received a third reading at Queens Park this past week. Though the intention being put forth that this initiative is purely in the interest of making homes more environmentally friendly, it would not be the first government initiative that takes from the pockets of consumers and home owners while selling itself as being good for all.

It will certainly impact on the cost of buying real estate in Ontario and put many  thousands more on the far side of qualifying for home ownership in Ontario once it is put in play.

Barrie - 5th Smartest Community in Canada - are we just not trying?

Ranking more than 4,700 towns and cities across Canada, the Composite Learning Index (CLI) measures 17 indicators of lifelong learning and draws a link between learning conditions and social and economic well being. This year's national average fell by two points compared to 2008, from 77 to 75, but Barrie still faired well ranking 5th overall with a score of 84. Created in 2006, the CLI uses an array of statistical indicators that reflect the many ways Canadians learn, formally and informally-whether in school, at home, in the workplace or in the community.

My guess is if we study hard and get to bed early next time, we can move up to number one, no problem.

Barrie couple, Purchase dream home and sell current home all in one week

We found Stan, Janet and Blair's dream home on a thursday last month and negotiated a great purchase price and closing terms. We listed their current Barrie home the following tuesday and received an acceptable offer two days later on the following thursday.

Stan Janet and Blair can't wait for their lives to change July 31st. when they move into their new digs on 4.3 partly wooded acres in Oro with a pool, spring fed pond and a 450 sq ft out building to be aptly dubbed "the hangar".

Congratulations guys.
