Active or Passive Blogger?

WHICH ONE ARE YOU?

Blogging

I recently read a post on a fun website I subscribe to The Future Buzz and an article by Adam Singer cought my attention. In it, he poses the question and distinguishes between an "active" and a "passive" person. I'm taking a little further and applying it to the "Blogger".

You are an "Active Blogger" IF...

  • Use the Internet at least every other day to express yourself and learn about the world around you. Passive if you simply read but not express.
  • Strategize your blogging plans and work to accomplish those goals. Passive if you wait for a miracle.
  • Active Bloggers "bookmarks" and comes back to analyze an article and draws ideas from it. Passive if you bookmark them and never come back to them, real passive if it's been a years since you last looked at it!
  • Have a close cirlce of connections within your Blogs and have had lunch or coffee with at least one. Passive if you just don't care.
  • Active Bloggers spend their days "looking-out" for opportunities (subjects/topics) to share with the world, even when they're not in-front of their computers. Passive if you just "thought" the post out in your mind and never delivered it.
  • If you pursue your goals as a Blogger, you're an active one, passive if you forgot where you wrote those goals.
  • You don't wait for an opportunity...you create it. Passive if you need it handed to you.
  • You make your own opinions on things and are not afraid to share them with the world. Passive if you let others make up your mind for you.

So are you an active blogger or a passive one? Add to the list!

The Real Meaning of St. Patrick's Day

I'm curious...aren't you curious? Here's what I found out:

St Patrick's Day

Had it not been for a band of Irish marauders in the fifth century, March 17 might've been plain old Maewyn's Day - because Maewyn wouldn't have changed his name to Patrick, and he likely wouldn't have become a saint. In fact, it wouldn't have been a Day at all.

But as it happened, a certain 16-year-old Welsh lad was kidnapped by those Irish marauders, and during the six years young Maewyn spent in servitude as a shepherd in Ireland he experienced a religious awakening, then spent years studying in a monastery. He took on a new name, Patrick, and a new calling - converting his countrymen to Christianity.

Interesting Fact:

In his Confessio, a spiritual autobiography, he writes:

So, how is it that in Ireland, where they never had any knowledge of God but, always, until now, cherished idols and unclean things, they are lately become a people of the Lord, and are called children of God.

Saint Patrick died on March 17 in the year 461, and this date was declared a religious feast day. Pretty cool huh!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO YOU

Shasta-Trinity National Forest awarded $1 million in economic stimulus money

Jobs? Yes...we need more jobs!

I read with great interest today about the federal funds that our County will be the receipient of as part of the country's economic stimulus package. The goal with these funds is to provide us with assistance in reducing wildfire danger, and if you live in the Northstate you know about the wildfires we've had in recent years!

The Shasta-Trinity National forest will be receiving $1 million for fuels reduction projects, as reported by the local newspaper (The Record Searchligh). According to Sharon Heywood, Shasta-Trinity Forest Supervisor, she's happy with this decision and agrees that this money will provide jobs for the California Conservation Corps and area contractors.

The article indicated that this work is part of the first 10 percent of projects funded by $98 million for the Forest Service nationwide in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Across the country, the projects are expected to create 1,500 jobs. That's some progress if I may add.

This is a start however...Redding needs more jobs!
