As Active Rain members, we are already a community of dedicated Real Estate professionals who see the value in helping and being helped by each other in our professional lives. Yet how many of us actively seek to deepen our relationships beyond the surface level professional courtesy and advice offering stage.
In his most recent book "Who's Got Your Back", Keith Ferrazzi challenges his readers to step out of their comfort zones and actively pursue what he refers to as "Lifeline Relationships", ones in which the other person will never let you fail. I am only 64 pages into what promises to be an outstanding read, and already much of what Keith talks about resonates within me.
As a Colorado Springs Mortgage Lender, I have always operated by developing relationships with my clients which go deeper than the transaction. Honestly I thought I was doing a pretty good job of this over the past seven years, until I started reading this book. He is not suggesting that all relationships need to go to that deep level of trust, but he does suggest that the little extra effort and courage it takes to genuinely deepen any relationship has the potential to mutually benefit both people.
If you would more insight into the book and the author, check out http://www.greenlightcommunity.com. I think you'll find it worth your time and beneficial to your relationships.
I came across the following quote which I thought was appropriate as we honor our veterans.
"Our incredible country was founded in revolution, sacrifice and a profound faith in something greater than self. The price of freedom is constant vigilance against those seeking to limit our potential."

Happy Veterans Day, God Bless America!
Peoples Mortgage had an outstanding speaker today at our monthly sales meeting, Kevin Knebl of Knebl Communications. Knebl Communications is a Colorado-based international speaking and training company offering seminars and workshops related to online and offline networking, Social Media, LinkedIn, sales and personal development.
With so many options available in the social networking arena, it can sometimes seem over whelming before you even get stated. Kevin did a great job of presenting a few of the options in which he specializes, then providing some practical advice on how to use the options in order to develop and deepen your business relationships.
You can check out his web site at http://www.kevinknebl.com/.
As a Colorado Springs Mortgage Professional, I am always interested in learning new ideas that will help me connect with my clients on a deeper level, and used correctly, the social media tools can play a big part in that connection.
As more details of the extension and expansion of the Home Buyer Tax Credit were released, some of the questions from my blog two days ago have been answered.
It appears that the term "existing home owners" does not mean you have to currently own a home. If you owned a home and occupied it as your primary residence for five consecutive years within the past eight years, you would be eligible if you meet the other requirements for the tax credit.
There are some good details at the following links, which is from the National Association of Realtors, Realtor Action Center.
As a Colorado Springs Mortgage Lender, I strive to stay informed of the latest changes in the industry in order to provide sound advice to those whom I have the opportunity to serve during the purchase of their home.
With Veterans Day upcoming, and in light of yesterday's tragedy at Fort Hood, I wanted to acknowledge and thank all the men and women (past and present) who serve in our armed forces. These selfless individuals have made a choice to put the freedoms we enjoy as Americans before their own lives in many cases, and without their service, this country would not stand today as the greatest nation in the world.
As a Colorado Springs Mortgage Lender, I have the privilege of serving clients from all branches of the military during their time at one of the five bases located in Colorado Springs, many of them having just returned from, or preparing for, their tour of duty overseas. To all the men and women who serve our country, and their family and friends, thank you for your willingness to protect our great country. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
