She is a professionally trained Home Stager and Re-designer who specializes in creating stylish room transformations. Marci has the vision and expertise to transform ordinary homes into warm and inviting spaces by implementing proven home staging techniques. Marci enjoys working with homeowners and realtors in the Upstate area to ensure that each home shows in the best possible light.

A couple of weeks ago my business partner, Bevin, and I had a long morning meeting in West Ashley. When it was over it was about lunch time and she wanted to grab a bite at one of her favorite local places. I had never heard of the Bluerose Cafe but love Irish food (notice my red hair - Irish & German I am). The meal was to die for and reasonably priced, but best of all the service and hospitality was some of the best I've had in Charleston.
Always on the lookout for great local restaurants, my husband wanted to try this little place out. We went yesterday and our little group tried a few different selections. He had the fish and chips & said it was the best he's ever eaten! I had the shepard's pie. The sauce was tasty, the peas were fresh... it was yummy! Then my friend, Sue, had the Turkey sandwich with fresh cranberry sauce as one of the fixings!
Afterwards we had fresh peach pie. The chef told us the peaches were fresh from the local farmer's market. Again, supporting the local communities! Yeah! Well, my experience was that this is definately a place to visit if you are looking for a great local restaurant. It's casual, friendly, tasty and inexpensive - what more could you want?

I'm so excited about this event. I went to a Charleston home show yesterday actually hoping to see a particular vendor, EverGreen Concepts. Unfortunately they werent' there (great disappointment). The good news is that when I decided to look them up online today I found that they are the sponsors of the Charleston Green Fair. I didn't even know we were having a green fair, but I will be there... Here's some of the info I have....
"The purpose of the Charleston Green Fair is to create excitement and enthusiasm for green products, services and technologies available to the residents of the Lowcountry using an environmentally responsible forum of education and entertainment."
There will be food, music and speaches. There will also be fun things for kids - climbing wall, puppet show, demonstrations, etc.
The fair is from 12-6pm at Marion Square in Charleston. Bring the family and learn just a little more on what you can do to help create a sustainable planet!

Bevin & I decided we are just too excited to not begin using it immeditely however. I think this spells things out perfectly for both sellers and agents. Staging not only helps to sell homes more quickly, but for more money.... something we've been trying to say all along!

Melissa Marro, a Home Staging and Interior Redesign Specialist from Charleston, SC has always had an obsession with decorating and redesign. "Even as a teenager I had a strange obsession with it. I would take my graph paper, measure all my furniture and my room and start making scale cutouts of everything trying to see which way it would fit best. When that didn't work, I would just move everything until I liked it!"
Marrying young and having three children while her husband was in the Navy she had to learn how to decorate on a budget. Moving 12 times in 14 years, quickly finding the correct placement for things and more importantly using what you already owned became very important to her. "There just wasn't money to spend on new things every time we moved. I wanted the house to look nice, but didn't really have a budget for much more than paint."
Moving also meant buying and selling homes, lots of them! Always on a budget and looking out for the bottom line, the homes the Marro family bought were usually the plain or neglected house that could be bought for below market value but had good bones and potential. The homes were then given great paint jobs, cleaned and staged to sell when the time came. Every home she put on the market sold quickly and at top dollar. She realized she had a knack for the job.
Moving to Charleston in 2004 and working for a real estate company her passion for redesign and staging took off and she decided to make it her life's work. Now owning her own company called First Impressions, Home Staging & Interior ReDesign, she does what she loves. "It's very gratifying at the end of the day. People's lives are changed. Home is more about comfort and security. When there is peace there, people can relax and unwind."
