North Carolina RTP area football recap for week ending 10/5/08.
It was another exciting week for triangle area football. Most notably, UNC, facing No. 24 Connecticut at Kennan Stadium, proved they should be worthy of a spot among the nations top 25 with a convincing victory 38-12. Bruce Carter came up with three blocked punts to rally his team and the fans.

Duke didn't fair as well against ACC foe, Georgia Tech, loosing 27-0.Maybe they are not yet ready to turn that corner just yet.
NC State provided fans with another exciting day on the grid-iron, but unfortunately came up just short of an impressive win, 38-31. Boston College, (which was NC State head coach Tom O'Brien's former team) scored a touchdown with 22 seconds remaining in regulation, diverting over time.
My Thurnerding Herd, Marshall University in Huntington, WV, played on Friday night against Cincinnati having a rough night, losing 33-10.

WVU came away with a hard faught victory over Big East rival, Rutgers 24-17. Quarterback, Patrick White went out late in the game after being shook up by the Rutgers defense.
I hope you enjoy the football recap of the teams I enjoy following. College football is an exciting time of year for me.

I absolutely love to watch college football on Saturdays. It's pretty exciting in the RTP area here in NC. We have three ACC teams, UNC, NC State and Duke, in the vicinity. Now they are not ranked teams nor probably even close to a BCS bowl bid, but each week they have proved to provide some local excitement that either brings neighbors and family together or sets them apart. Always makes for interesting conversations at the water cooler on Monday mornings.
Just yesterday, UNC came back from being down 14 to beat ACC foe Miami on a last second defensive
play that secured the win, 28-24.
They have found thier new QB in Cam Sexton.
Duke(with a new head coach) won their first ACC game in 25 losses. They beat UVA pretty handedly 31-3. Could they possibly be turning a corner?
NC State wasn't as fortunate this week as their big win against in-state rival ECU last week. South Florida came away with a 41-10 victory.
I don't only keep up with the local teams; I have alliances with a few others teams even though they are usual not televised in this area. I attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV so they are always on my radar. Saturday featured and in-state rivalry with formerly ranked (#8) WVU. This one is fun for me. Most of my friends and family are WVU fans. I'm considered the black sheep due to my alliance to the "other" university in WV. It stared with text messages on Friday..."big game tomorrow...go HERD!"...well I received all sort of replies (most I can't mention here), but this one was the best..."step in shit"...that's the kind of camaraderie I so enjoy on College Football Saturdays. Now didn't that just crack you up, no matter who your favorite team may be? Marshall went down to WVU 27-3.
