Today I attended the Jahns family reunion in Rosebud, TX. We go twice a year and for those of you that frequent the trip from Dallas to Austin, you probably already know about this little secret off the Highway and if not it is time you do. Less than halfway from Waco to Dallas is a funny little gas station called the Czech Stop in West, TX. There should be no excuses you should just stop!Kolaches originally are from Central Europe they were the sweet chosen to represent the Czech Republic. They are a pastry consisting of fruit fillings to cheeses and/or meats inside a bread roll. My favorites are the cream cheese kolaches: tasty bread stuffed with a mildly sweet cream cheese and topped with a spot of lemony sugar. Wow they are delicious. They also make the orginal Kolaches which are made from prunes these are a favorite of the man in my life. He let me have a bite I never thought that a prune kolache could be so tasty. They have so many different flavors cherry, lemon, pumpkin with cream cheese, raspberry, cherry cream cheese, and apricot. (I am sure they have many other flavors these are just what I remember). Every neighborhood needs a great coffee shop andWhite Rock Coffee House off of Easton and Northwest Highway has now covered this need for all of Lakewood and Lake Highlands area! They have recently expanded to Abrams and Mockingbird! They both have delicious coffee and easy access with the drive thru service. I was wondering what was going into the space in the huge parking behind the 7-11. I was really excited when I found out it was going to be my own favoirte neighborhood coffee shop! The new location is drive thru only but the drive thru is on both sides of the store so there is not a lot of time to wait.

They have plenty of selections to choose from and my current favorite is the soy pumpkin spice latte.The location on Northwest Highway has in addition to their wide gourmet coffee selection, they offer yummy food, free fast WiFi Internet access, live music and more!!
