Feng Shui This House For Sale in Lexington - Step Into My Parlor

If you have a house for sale in Lexington or anywhere else, you want to make a good first impression. When you open your door, what do you notice first? Shoes by the door? Move them! Coats? Move them, too! The "lived in" look is fine, but don't overdo it. The house should not be a museum for your nick-nacks...you want it to be simple enough inside that others can see themselves living there. Good feng shui is uncluttered and clean.

Lets check out one on the market now in the Lexington area. First thing you notice? The parlour, of course. Nothing personal here. It looks like anyone could settle in and call it their own.

Lexington Real Estate entry Isn't that a nice picture? When you open a door and the first thing you see is a welcoming fireplace, beautiful artwork and a nice fluffy couch, it begs you to "step into my parlor". That is good feng shui, and good salesmanship.

In Virginia Beach there is a subdivision where the front doors of many homes open directly in front of a wall. Immediately you're stopped by this wall. The best you can do with a house like that is to place a mural on that wall or a large mirror. People need to be able to see into the distance a bit. Even a cozy little foyer should have a view...a focal point...something your eyes are drawn to that will make you smile or make you feel comfortable. Good feng shui is good sense.

Look at what works for others and try it out on your space. You might be surprised at how well your "house for sale" shows when it has something special to show as the folks "step into your parlor".

Got a house for sale in Lexington? Here's something you really shouldn't forget. Feng Shui your front porch! Drive up to the front of your house and look at it from a buyers perspective. Does it feel warm and welcoming? Would you like to sit down with a friend on your front porch? What about the pot of weeds on the step? Notice the old leaves by the front door? See any cobwebs? How about chipped steps, or wobbly handrails? Do your hedges need trimming?
Has your front porch turned into a clutter magnet? Do you avoid looking at it as you walk in?

bMessy Porch LexingtonAll these little things may not seem to matter much, but they don't make you feel good when you come home, especially when you look at them with dread. Feng Shui is all about making things better for you. So, let's address the first impression you get of your house.

If your front porch needs some help, it's time to be creative and make a little oasis. Find some potted plants, a little table if there's room and a couple of comfortable chairs. Use cheap camping chairs if you don't have "nice" ones. If it looks comfortable, then casual can be fine!

Spruce things up with a little paint if necessary and toss in a couple bright flowers...before long you've got a cozy little nest. It takes very little effort to maintain this oasis. Sweep the leaves off the porch occasionally, water the plants, fluff the pillows and enjoy the good Feng Shui on your front porch.

Feng Shui This - House For Sale in Lexington - The Neighborhood

If you are thinking of putting your house up for sale in Lexington or anywhere else, you're probably ready to pull out all the stops and get it sold! Selling a house in this market can take all your skill, all the skill of your realtor and his/her minions, and if you add a bit of Feng Shui to the mix it might just help them make that sale and take it to closing. Feng Shui is a whole lot about common sense and making things look nice.

So, lets begin. We need to do some imagining now, and drive within a quarter mile of your house. Start looking at the neighborhood as if you have never seen it before now. Look around. Are your neighbors slobs? or do they keep their lawns and homes looking nice? Are there any old piles of junk or old cars? Many cities have ordinances against that sort of thing and you might have to call the proper government offices to have the city take care of the mess. Your neighbors will thank you. (well, maybe not the ones you report) At any rate, it will help clean up your neighborhood, and that will help you sell your house.

Now lets continue down the road. As we get closer, lets look over your own lawn and house. Are the hedges clipped neatly? Does the lawn look neat and trimmed? How about your gutters and woodwork? Everything painted and clean? I can't stress how important this is. A first impression can be just that, or it can be the last impression. If you want to sell your home, it needs to look as good as possible. Sometimes you can make it look better by just adding a little color. Flowers are not expensive, and it takes very little to maintain them.

Check out these examples:

Nice. The lawn is clipped, manicured, even landscaped. We even notice that there's a privacy fence out back. This house looks good.

Now, lets take the same house (actually the same photo) and pop in some flowers. A little color makes a big difference.

Feng Shui is about making the most of what you have. Add a little sparkle. It's simple, it's inexpensive, and it really can make a big difference when you have a House For Sale in Lexington.

And, if your neighbors aren't keeping up their lawns, maybe you could offer to help them out a bit. It will do everyone some good. It could be that their mower doesn't work, their back's been giving them trouble...whatever the reason, you might make a friend while making the whole neighborhood look better.

Kentucky Horse Park Lexington KY

I've visited the Kentucky Horse Park three times in the past month when family came in from out of town. My grandchildren don't get a chance to see horses up close unless we load up and make a visit to the horse park. When we do they become so enchanted I wonder if they have futures in the horse business. Actually, I start wondering if a horse farm is in my future. There are certainly lots of them out there. Some are even for sale!

The Kentucky Horse Park is the perfect day trip from Lexington KY Cincinnati or Louisville. Kentucky is proud of our horses and we're thrilled to be hosting the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010. The Kentucky Horse Park is the place to be if you're interested in the history of the horse.

By the time you see all there is to see you've taken some wonderful pictures, learned a lot about horses, and made memories for a lifetime.

Kentucky Horse Park Pony Ride

Besides pony rides, the Kentucky Horse Park also has facinating horse shows, including the "Walk of Champions" where famous horses get to "brag" about their accomplishments within feet of an adoring crowd. They show features of the races these horses won, then the horses are walked around for their photo ops. It's a great chance to see horses such as, Cigar, who was the all time leading money winner when he retired in 1996, Horse of the Year in 1995 and 1996, Champion Older Horse in 1995 and 1996.

Plus: He tied the record of 16 consecutive wins, was voted Racehorse of the Decade of the 1990s...Voted 18th best Racehorse of the 20th Century...had an unbeaten season in 1995, winning 10 out of 10 races. He was the all-time leading money winner at retirement Nov. 9, 1996
and the list goes on...

Cigar Chillin

Cigar is some horse. But, he's only one of many at the Kentucky Horse Park. For little Holly, Gizmo will always be the greatest horse alive, even if he never wins a race.

From giant draft horses to miniatures the size of big dogs, the Kentucky Horse Park seems to have one of everything. We'll be going back often. There is more to see than one day can do justice.
