The April Cape Coral Homes Sales number are out and they continue to hold strong.

• Active Listings went down....albeit not by much....but the good news is they are not going up.
  
• Closed Sales for April came in at 557......and today is only the 5th. With a lag in reporting, I expect there probably is more like 600
  homes that closed in April. Will know this for sure by the end of May...and will update the report.

The City of Cape Coral Public Information Office released a video of the area which is really great.  Please take a look.

Google announced today a layer in Google Maps that shows bike routes. They state that they have worked with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy to identify existing bicycling trails. Using Google maps you can now select the More button and pick the Bicycling layer which shows different indicators for bicycling paths. The dark solid green represents official bike lanes, while the light green are suggested routes. As you can see Cape Coral has a good number of official bike lanes. The quality of a community can often be enhanced with access to safe bicycling lanes.

Lee County also publishes a map that includes maps of Ft. Myers and Sanibel Island.

As reporting in the News-Press today the groundbreaking of the new VA clinic in Cape Coral occurred this morning.

‘The facility at Corbett Road and Diplomat Parkway will encompass 220,000 square feet, nearly three times the size of the VA clinic in Fort Myers, associate director of the Bay Pines VA Health Care System in St. Petersburg.

The new clinic, when it opens in late 2011, will have a staff of more than 400 doctors, nurses, technicians and other medical personnel, said Dr. Ajay Dhawan, who will be chief of staff for the new clinic.

The clinic will offer an array of services, including minor surgeries, that are currently not offered in the Fort Myers clinic, Dhawan said.

Also, the new clinic will have a unit to serve women veterans with their healthcare needs, he said.’
