Port Deposit, Cecil County Maryland under mandatory evacuation starting at 8 Pm

Port Deposit residents are no strangers to evacuations due to flood waters. At seven miles below the conowingo dam, Port Deposit frequently floods when there is heavy rain. The mayor of Port Deposit has issued a mandatory evacuation tonight at eight.

The National Weather Service says the river will crest at 35.8 feet Saturday morning. That would be second only to the 36.8 feet measured at the dam after Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the town as they brace for the flooding.
