Recently, a friend of mine sent me this link to a Toys R Us coupon, and I decided it would be great to post it on The Rain for others to see, and use. Since the holidays are a time for giving, I think it would be a great idea to use this coupon to buy a small donation to your local Toys For Tots.

Our office located at 3004 Emmorton Road Abingdon, Md. 21009, accepts donations through the holidays. Please feel free to stop by and drop off!!
Most of us here have felt in some way, shape, or form, this year the economic crisis occuring in our country. If anyone knows a family in need specifically, please come forward, and we can rally together to help this family. We are a community, and always here to help each other.
Happy Holidays

Last week, there was a fatal accident in Harford County, Md., which ended the life of a mother and her young son. The driver, was said to have been driving erratic, and was involved in another accident just hours before.I decided to blog about this incident, for the simple reason that I personally do not feel as if Maryland holds strick enough penalties for individuals whom cause these careless fatal accidents which change lives forever.
In May of 2000, my husband was killed in a fatal accident which ended his life as well as another young woman's life. THe driver of the vehicle which caused the accident, was legally intoxicated, and later charged with the list below, and had a history of prior DUI's.
2 counts of manslaughter
2 counts of homicide by a motor vehicle while intoxicated
2 counts of motor vehicle homicide with use of alcohol
reckless driving
negligent driving
failure to yield on a left turn
driving while intoxicated
driving with impaired by alcohol
These charges were later pleaded down to reckless driving, and the driver of the car did not jail time, and never lost his license. He continued to drink and drive, later recieving another DWI, and again did not jail time, and no loss of license. This man never apologized to my three children or myself. If you would like to join my cause on stricter laws for these individuals, click on http://apps.facebook.com/causes/129790?m=7bf7bab2

BEL AIR, Md. (WJZ) - Maryland State Police arrested the man involved in two Harford County crashes which occurred last Friday.
Police say Christopher Lentz, 37, of the 5600-block of Bell Gwynn Road in Glen Arm was arrested Thursday evening at his home.
He is charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter for the crash that happened around 5 p.m. Friday.
The fatal car crash occurred on the Bel Air bypass during the height of rush hour. There were a lot of motorists who stopped and tried to help.
Mary Bubala reports several frantic 911 calls were made as drivers witnessed the tragedy.
"It's a terrible auto accident on Route 1 and 24 in Bel Air," said one caller.
Katherine Brady and her son 8-year-old Wilson died in the crash. Four others, including her husband Stephen and their two-year-old, were injured.
"A huge accident. Both cars are just demolished. It was head-on at a high rate of speed," said another caller.
"There are people running towards it, one of the cars is upside down," said a caller.
One of the motorists who called 911 saw the accident as it was happening. He said he saw the minivan fly six feet above the height of a white work van also involved in the crash.
An off-duty Bel Air firefighter ran to the scene and was next to place an emergency call.
Firefighter Jim Miller: By the looks at it, you might want to check the availability of Medevac.
Operator: You say he's unconscious but breathing?
Miller: Uh, he's coming around now, hold still, stay still bud. Hey bud, stay back in the car. He's partially ejected, though.
Then he arrived at the Brady's minivan.
Miller: I have a small child in a car seat restrained in the back. I got a 399 on the patient. Stop! I got a full rescue with a child in the back in the car seat, I got a partial ejection. This is a full rescue.
One of the 911 callers described to dispatchers what she saw before the accident. She was talking about Christopher Lentz, who was driving the Jeep Cherokee.
Operator: Do you know if there was anyone injured?
Caller: Yeah, the car tipped over, and there was some flames. There was a guy coming along side of the road, and he was speeding and he, he, he crossed the median and he crossed the yellow line. And he slammed into a car, and it tipped over and it caught fire immediately.
"Based on the accident report and on the troopers' observations, it didn't appear that Mr. Lentz tried to avoid either collision," said Elena Russo, Maryland State Police spokesperson.
The man who lost his wife and child, Stephen Brady, was transferred from Shock Trauma to Kernan Hospital to begin treatment and rehab for head trauma injury.
Released from Shock Trauma on Tuesday, Lentz was processed and then transported to the Harford County Central Booking Center to await an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The charges could result in a $5,000 fine and/or 10 years in prison.
