Forest Hills - A Great Place to Shop, Eat & Live

If someone comes up to me and ask what is your favorite area in Queens and without hesitation I say FOREST HILLS.

It has a lot to offer while holding its small community charm. It like having a slice of Manhattan without the crowds and hustle and bustle.

FOREST HILLS has a lot of places to shop, eat and just hang out. The two section are Austin Street and Metropolitan Avenue.

Austin street has several known shops as Victoria Secret and NY and Company just to name a few. It also has some "mom and pop" shops like Buster Brown. It also has a Barnes and Noble, a Lucille Roberts and a section area that I call the restaurant avenue. Restaurants such as Pizzeria Uno, La Cabana, etc.

Metropolitan Avenue has quite a charm. It has a lot of "mom and pops" shops that are gradually disappearing, but are thriving in this area. Further down there is a mini mall that includes Staples, Trader Joe's and my wife's favorite craft store Michael's.

Dining n FOREST HILLS has many eateries to choose from. There is from fast food restaurant - McDonalds to the Santa Fe restaurant. There is also a couple of good bakeries and pizzerias.

It is very convenient via public transportation. The major station is 71st Continental Avenue. The Q60 bus stops there as well as other buses. Driving is o.k, but finding parking in the area might be a little bit tricky. There is always a garage which is located by Austin Street near the Barnes and Nobel.

I would like to mention this huge party place which is located on Queens Boulevard. It offers a wide range of items for any party occasion.

More about FOREST HILLS in my next blog. Until next time.
