Hidden Creek Estates is actually TWO sets of neighborhoods, a west neighborhood on Meridian Court off Dell Road, the other, an east neighborhood on Taylor Lane, off Noble Road. The two are SPLIT by a creek between the two neighborhoods, both end in a cul-de-sac. Homes to build by local contractors are priced approximately between the upper $200,000's and the lower $300,000's.
(Disclaimer: I am not the listing agent for the lots or homes in this neighborhood, but I can work with you as a buyer's agent if you have any interest in these or other neighborhoods in the area!)
Although Dell and Noble road are gravel roads, both neighborhoods are paved and are great for bicycling and walking about.
I thought this was unusual at first, but further on, it makes more sense. St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Saline had recently converted to emergency/out-patient services only, with patients needing overnight and/or more lengthy treatment being transferred to St. Joseph's in Ann Arbor.
So now they can specialize in handling emergency and urgent care needs for seniors. Per the article:
St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital opened the doors to its new Senior Emergency Department Friday in a move hospital officials say will improve emergency care services for those 65 and older. George Williams, the hospital's chief of staff and emergency physician, said it became obvious that, with an abundance of aging baby boomers, a new style of emergency care tailored to their specific needs was required. Williams said he and his colleagues realized there were opportunities to make care that was especially catered to these patients.
But it also doesn't end here, as other hospitals are also joining in to help seniors:
In a press release issued in August, Lauren Stokes, media relations contact for the hospital, said the Saline Senior ER is part of a larger plan to bring a similar style of care to the region. "By Jan. 1, 2011, emergency departments at Chelsea Community Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, St. Joseph Mercy Brighton, St. Joseph Mercy Livingston, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and St. Joseph Mercy Saline will each have a Senior Emergency Department staffed by caregivers who are specially skilled in geriatric emergency care," she said. ""St. Mary Mercy Livonia opened the doors to the health system's first Senior Emergency Department on July 14."
It makes living around here more comfortable for all ages.

I'm just going to make this simple for a lot of folks asking me, especially in this area, about doing any buying or selling, considering the freeze on foreclosures. There's a good article here, but the direct answer is towards the end of it (directly from the article):
What does this mean for the housing market and the economy?
Lots of speculation, but analysts are saying that home prices will increase in the short term as the low-priced bargain foreclosures are taken off the market. However, home prices will most likely take a dip once the banks deal with robo-signers, find the assignments and foreclosures go back on the market
There is a concern out there that this may impact the economy by banks pulling back lending (yes, even more than they already have). This would be disappointing, but hopefully if it did happen, would just be in the short-term as they deal with the current issue at hand and gain an understanding of their true portfolios/ownership of these properties.
For REALTORS® and prospective home buyers, it means really checking into the foreclosed properties that are on the market to ensure that they are properly documented so that your purchase doesn’t get put on hold or take a long time to exchange hands.
Before this article came out, I guessed it was going to be indeed like this. For buyers, the inventory may go down for a bit, not so great for them, making prices rise, but for sellers (with unencumbered properties) it's a good thing for now.
But as usual, just wait a few days and things may change....
