Rod Harris Jazz Combo
Columbia College Jazz Series director Rod Harris and his saxophones will take center stage for a special concert at 8pm Saturday at Stage 3 Theater in Sonora. Admission is $15. For more information call 209-533-1778.
Craft Faire
The Sonora Senior Lounge and Boutique will hold a craft faire from 10 am to 3 pm Saturday in the Firemen's Museum at 125 N Washington St in Sonora. Admission is free. Crafts, scones and coffee will be available. Proceeds will benefit the senior lounge, a place for senior citizens to meet, watch television and play games, including bingo. Open Garden Day
Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will host open garden day on Saturday at their demonstration garden on the Cassina High School campus at 251 Barretta St. in Sonora. The garden opens at 10 am and demonstrations begin at 10:30 am. Planting and transplanting native plants will be first on the agenda, followed by how to make a rock garden. Lastly, there will be a talk on paths and walkways and fire safe landscapes. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions. There is no charge. Nutcracker Tea Party
Soroptimist International of Sonora will hold its first Nutcracker Tea Party for children of all ages from 3 to 6 pm Saturday at the Humane Society of Tuolumne County at 10040 Victoria Way in Jamestown. Santa Claus will be present, along with entertainment, tea and prize drawings. Tickets are $15 per child or adult. For availability, call Carol Norwood at 209-728-5034. All proceeds will go to service projects of Soroptimist International of Sonora.
Hike to Natural Bridges
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will sponsor a hike to Natural Bridges at 10 am on Sunday. Meet at the
trailhead on Parrots Ferry Road just outside Columbia. No dogs are allowed on the trail. Bring plenty of water and clothing appropriate for the weather. For more information call 209-536-9094.

During October 2009, 52 residential properties closed escrow. The average sale price was $223,293 and the average days on the market were 129. Thirty-seven percent (or 19) of the residential properties that sold were bank owned and 8% (or 4) were short sales. The Hi 4-H Haunted House will be open Friday and Saturday from 7-10 pm. It is located in the red barn behind JS West Lumber at 730 S. Washington St in Sonora. Ghouls Night Out 2009
This event will be held Saturday at 7pm at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora. All ages are welcome and no alcohol is allowed. Tickets are $10 at the door, include a free prize drawing. Bands will include Dishonorable Discharge, False Freedom, Sedated, Bloddy Knuckles and more.
Harvest Haunt Express
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park will present "Harvest Haunt Express" train rides on the hour from 11am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday. Illumination for the Jack-o'-Lanterns
This annual event is sponsored by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. It begins at 5:30 pm Friday in Columbia State Historic Park. Everyone is welcome to carve their own pumpkins and bring them to the Columbia Museum on Main Street for judging. Prizes will be awarded for the most original, most gruesome, most entertaining and more. The Gold Rush Balladeers will perform authentic songs of the Gold Rush era, and the jack-o'-lanterns will be illuminated at dusk. Admission is free and Halloween costumes are encouraged. Halloween Parade and Costume Contest
The Junction shopping center will present its annual event beginning at 11 am Saturday under the clock. Registration starts at 10 am. Costume judging will be held in three age groups -up to age 4, 5 to 8, and 9 to 12 - plus a group category. Cash prizes will be awarded.
