A while back, i had an idea to blog about local news that can create an awareness for proper homeowners insurance in Rockland County. I never expected three significant fires to write about so far in 2008. First Bardonia, then New City and yesterday Spring Valley.
An electrical fire in a Spring Valley home left residents scrambling for alternative living arrangements while the home is inhabitable. Ask your insurance broker how much Additional Living Expenses your homeowners insurance covers. "ALE" helps offset the cost of hotels and dinning out while your house is being repaired.

I recently wrote about a fire that spread through a Bardonia housing complex. Less than 1 month later, another fire made the news here in Rockland County. Early this morning, a fire damaged a New City home. It appears t the cause may be from lighting a cigarette. The situation was quickly handled by the New City Fire Department.
Here are 3 coverages that will come into a claim like this.
Dwelling Coverage-
Covers any damage to the structure of the home.
Personal Property
Covers furniture, appliances, and clothing.
Additional Living Expense
This coverage will offset the cost of staying at a hotel room and going out to eat while your home is uninhabitable.

In my opinion, one of the nicest parts of Rockland County to rent would be Avalon Gardens in Nanuet. My sister used to live there and i would always go visit the complex. They have great amenities including a pool, full gym and my favorite, racquetball courts.
One of Avalon's requirements is that all rentals carry atleast 100,000 in personal liability insurance. This protects you as well as the Complex if someone falls and gets injured in or around your apartment. If you are moving to Avalon I would be happy to set up your renters insurance.

Pitbulls and other similar breeds are not inherently viscous. Mine is very lovable. Proper puppy training will ensure that your dog grows up to be a respectable member of the family. Dazzo took puppy training at Petsmart (in the Nanuet Pathmark Shopping Center) when she was six months old and quickly learned to get along with other dogs and people.
Its also a good idea to keep treats near the front door. When someone new enters, instruct your visitor to command the dog to sit and have the VISITOR give your dog a treat. The ol saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you" goes a long way in doggy language
