Great Day at the Waynesboro GA Farm Fest

The September 2008 Waynesboro Farm Fest was great fun. The weather was beautiful, a perfect sunny day and a calm 79. There was great food, from Hamburgers, Hot dogs and Snow Cones. And of course there was Bar-B-Que cooked up by area locals, trying to earn a spot in the next Waynesboro Boss Hog Cook-Off.

We had a cricket spitin and pie eating contests (no they didn't spit the crickets in the pies) We were entertained by a great DJ and Cloggers, There were great games for the kids and Blow ups to jump and play on. Of course we can't leave out the Crafters and vendors sharing there wares.

Where to Eat in Waynesboro Georgia

Restaurant  Review for Waynesboro Georgia, #1 Taylor's Barbecue located at 112 13th St Waynesboro Georgia 30830.

 Taylor's Bar-B-Que

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Waynesboro Georgia located in Burke county. Great Southern home cooking is what you get here!!

My husband and I steal away for lunch when ever possible, of course we have taken all the kids too.  Feeding a family of 6 costs about $40.00. No one leaves hungry!! It is a buffet style restaurant where they dish out the food,  you tell them what you want and they PILE it on paper plates. I always ask to have it in a to-go box as I can never eat it all.

They also have a full Grill menu to include everyone's favorites Hamburgers and French fries and of course more.

 Mrs Frankie Taylor

It was started in 1966 by Mrs. Frankie and her husband Ed, and was originally called Taylors Grocery and Barbecue. They recently sold the restaurant to Rita Woods but you still find Mrs. Frankie cooking and serving it up every day.

It doesn't matter when you go (like today at 2:30) they always have a line of folks waiting patiently for their turn to order.

The hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday form 5am to 9pm.

Some of the things you'll find everyday include:

Fried Chicken

BBQ RibsTaylor's Bar-B-Que

Shredded Pork

Fried Pork Chops

Smoked Sausage

Rice N Hash

Corn Bread

Potato Salad

Slaw

Then it's a surprise, Today the other meats where:

Fried Catfish

BBQ Chicken

Hamburger Steak

Always a Great assortment of VegetablesTaylor's Bar-B-Que

Green Beans

Black Eyed Peas

Greens

Mash Potatoes (Whipped potatoes as I was corrected)

Broccoli Casserole

Squash

Sweet Potatoes

Macaroni and Cheese

Don't forget the Sweet Tea!!

I could go on and on and on.......

If your ever get to Waynesboro Georgia you must put this in your Eats list I promise you won't be disappointed!!

I just want to add a special thanks to Mrs. Frankie for taking time from her busy late lunch crowd to allow me to interview her after my lunch. And Thanks to Mr. and Mrs Brooks for the picture of them enjoying there lunch

How Effected ARE WE?

With all the negative financial news lately do you feel like the sky is falling?

How much of the national, state or even local situation can you personally change? Very little, right? We can only keep our positive attitude & realize everybody lives in a house & most would like to move if you can help make it happen. How will YOU help them get happily moved?

While other parts of the country are having tremendous difficulties we need to realize how fortunate we are to live & work in the CSRA Georgia.

Think about the "typical" CSRA employee.

Are they affected by these blips in the economy?

They work at seven major Hospitals & the Medical College of Georgia, The Savannah River Site, Defense Dept- Ft. Gordon, Child and Adult education plus the plants we have here make toilet paper & Tide soap! How many of these employers will cut back on their work force when things slow down? We still get sick, need a nuclear deterrent, need a military defense, must educate our curtain climbers, need toilet paper & we wash clothes.

Jeremy and Hollys fist Home on Flicker

Also realize that Ft. Gordon is still gaining numbers from BRAC, NSA & other National Security efforts.

How about Plant Vogtle? It will take 5-8 years and thousands of workers to complete the two new units. Not only will new jobs be created but the pay & benefits will be excellent. The painter/carpenter/plumber working in Augusta today for $8-12 an hour will have an opportunity to work there at a higher rate & more hours. They will be able to afford to move up. Plus ALL the new, incoming employees that go through Southern Co./ Ga. Power. I understand there will be over a projected 300 engineers alone. Plus the trades employees will need housing.

The first two units took about eight years to complete & I recall there were over 10,000 workers, some 3-4,000 at any one time.

When units I & II were built the entire market & especially South Augusta Georgia & Martinez Georgia experienced tremendous growth.

So as the rest of the country wonders about the future of the Real Estate market, we here in Augusta Georgia, CSRA can be fairly comfortable with the future of our Market.

Heaven at 72 and I'M Still Alive!!

Dreams really can come true.

I just closed on a home with a couple, 1 ½ weeks ago that was a very difficult closing as it was a mobile home.

But my client was a 72 year old woman. As we started the process she went in for heart surgery.

When she got home I got Bronchitis and could not goo to her personally, so I had to have my husband go in to get signatures.

I got better and so did she.

Numerous things happened to make me want to give up, but I loved Mrs. Angie and I wanted HER dream to come true.

We only closed 1 week late (much to the surprise of her whole family) that thought SHE could never buy a home.

I went to check in on her and her husband Saturday, they are HAPPY and well and living in their first piece of HEAVAN.

I am so honored and happy to help make this dream come true for a couple that never thought they could be HOMEOWNERS!!

I LOVE YOU ANGIE & HARLEY
