Yes, my last post was indeed "Turning 7". It turns out that, just 3 months after Elisha came to this world, she was blessed with the knowledge that she was getting a "Forever Best-Friend". Elyssa was born exactly one year and seven days after Elisha. Today we commemorate that gorgeous day and we celebrated it yesterday at the Rookery Bay Preserve with fun crafts, face painting, holding sea critters, Irish fiddlers, picnic by the pond, and a boat tour to the Rookery islands to admire the gorgeous birds and mangrove forests. Elisha won a coloring contest! Then we were off to the bookstore to find some reading treasures. We're so lucky to celebrate both birthdays in two different weekends. We all have fun.
My baby girl and I last Friday. I went to the School and we had a healthy breakfast with all her classmates and we sang the "Happy Birthday" song. It was fun and everyone enjoyed it. I am so happy my little girls are growing up, but a little nostalgic, as well. They are my strength and my inspiration, and believe it or not, my best teachers. Do you remember when you turned 7? It's a big deal!
Jason Sanders recenly wrote a blog post titled FREE Website or Blog Translation to Spanish , which made me think of my favorite
tools:
This magnificent translation tool now allows you to translate any document into one of over 40 languages that are available (the list, of course, gets longer each time you look at it).
On your Google account, simply go to your Google Docs, click
Tools > Translate document, and select the language of your preference.
When your translation is completed, you can choose to replace your original document with the translated version or create a whole new document.
If you use Tweetdeck, then you're in luck! It also has a fabulous and quite accurate translate tool. It's the icon that looks like this:
![]()
Choose from the drop down menu after clicking this icon and your tweet can be translate into any of the languages.
Great tools such as these offer a great opportunity to target other markets. I commented on Jason's post expressed that most Hispanics love our roots and language and really appreciate the effort business professionals put into translating their websites, collateral and even documents into Spanish, just to let us know they want our business, even if we understand English and speak it well [enough].
If no one in your staff speaks the language, a disclaimer must be posted on the translated version of the site or document, assuring that the translation has been done for their convenience. Make sure they understand what assistance they will receive in that language, to what extent. You don't want to mislead them and underdeliver on their expectations. Go play with Google Translate and Tweet in another language. It's free and it's fabulous. Send me a tweet in Spanish @positivemommies :)
I was in Bonn, Germany, for a conference last May and my friends decided we should go to the Pub next to the Hotel. I don't drink, but wanted to meet new people. This man was just one of the funniest characters I've ever met. According to the guys at the Pub, he was a regular and your Bonn experience would not be complete unless he sketched your face. Apparently, he was very choosy about whom he sketched. So...I lucked out, and I'm holding my sketch. I'll have to scan it for your review, meanwhile, enjoy him LOL :)
Elisha and Elyssa were stars at the Naples International Film Festival commercial by Chuck Ardezzone of In Trouble Zone Productions. It was a blast. The Naples International Film Festival will be an amazing event and we're happy to be a part of it. Elisha and Elyssa both look forward to more "acting gigs". We can't wait to see the non-green-screen version! I will keep you all updated. xoxo
