Elayna Fernandez - Marketing Expert - Naples FL

I teach classes at the local Adult Community Program (Barron Collier High School Naples FL). I teach Web Design on Dreamweaver, Blogging and Social Media.

I tell all my students – and everyone I come in contact with, for that matter – that the first step to online marketing success is to register for a Google Account AKA have an @Gmail address.

From Blogger to YouTube to Google Analytics, a Google Account will grant you access to tools that simplify your life and make you savvy in easy steps.

The newest feature I adore is TASKS. A cool system that allows you to have a To-Do list in front of you while you’re Gmail-ing (Gmailing is e-mailing supersized: chat, audio, video, e-mail, calendar, document sharing, etc.).

How do you enter a new task?

Just click in an empty part of your list and start typing. You don’t even have to click a button to save it. When you hit Return, a new task field is generated for you to add more tasks.

This tool allows you to become more productive and to actually get your stuff done. Becoming a Gmail do-er doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Look at my task list! (of course, I just wrote the fun stuff, but I’m adding work items IRL).

The coolest thing for me is to know I can convert emails into tasks. So let’s say you have a do-er Gmail message, then you select it (or them) and go to More Actions | Add to Tasks…and Voila! I can’t wait to get a real message so I can convert it over. Wait…I think it’s funner when it’s all play. Of course it doesn’t support the lifestyle on my “Play list”.

If you don’t have a Gmail account, become a Do-er. Once you do that, you’ll be able to see your Tasks on the left hand side where you’ll find your Inbox, Trash, Sent Items and the like.

Pop your Gmail Tasks menu out, fill in our tasks, and cross the tasks out as you do’em! Beautiful, I tell you…just, beautiful.

Did you know there is an option on YouTube that allows you to link your regular blog to your YouTube account page?

Well now you do!

When you login to your YouTubeaccount, make sure you set up the magic! You will, of course, click on Account and notice the menu on the left hand panel.

So you click on "Blog Setup" and "Add a Blog" to get the party started.

Then you gotta select your blog platform from a drop-down list containing:

Blogger
Wordpress.com
Wordpress self hosted
LiveJournal
Friendster
Piczo
Freewebs

Enter your username and password (or e-mail address and password) and your blog(s) appear in front of you. Choose the one(s) you wish to add and...

Ta-dah!!!

What happens next? and How does this help?

You can post videos to your blog directly from your YouTube watch page and it will "...appear on your blog shortly".

You can do that by clicking "Share" and then "Post to Blog" after choosing the appropriate blog site you want to publish to.

My adorable creations have officially joined the blogosphere.

Elisha, who is 6, wanted a space to help kids become Excellent and Prettier. She called it ExcellentPrettier.com :)

I asked why "Prettier" and she said "they are already pretty". Fair enough LOL

She has a vlog that is semi-translated (goofy sister caused the translated video to be cut short).

Elyssa, on the other hand, is 5. They are both having a birthday in September. They are 1 year and 7 days apart.

She wanted "ThePrincessBlog.com " and to my surprise, it was available!

She is very creative and dramatic. You'll see what I mean.

One of Elyssa's stories "The Princess Iguana" is being published soon. Elisha is illustrating the story and actually did the transcription of her sister's narration.

It's so empowering to allow your kids to let their best self shine and to value their ideas, promoting them to explore and reach their true potential.

Any Iguana books that are sold are benefiting the Make A Wish Foundation, so I'm looking forward to that. My children's wish will hopefully make other kids' wishes come true.

We all know that branding is all about consistency. We all know I'm crazy about branding. I'm also crazy about Twitter. Well, apparently GoDaddy and I have much in common.

If you've registered a domain name with GoDaddy.com, go to your Domain Manager under My Products ->My Domains. You'll notice a new 'view' that includes a TWITTER user name checker.

The new integrated Twitter registration into GoDaddy.com's domain manager, allows you to see if the Twitter username that matches your URL is available, and if so, register it right from the 'Domain Enhancements' column on your manager.

I absolutely love it! While it's true that Twitter has gotten a TON of exposure (Oprah, Time, Elayna's blog... LOL), GoDaddy is sure making the service available to small business owners and professionals that probably did not think of Twitter as a branding AND marketing tool.

This is a sign that Twitter is here to stay while some may still resist the Twave.
